yeah..the i guess the IS350 is a POS compared to the IS-F. Why waste your time and convert an IS-F to manual instead?

I would think that's for the future. Something exciting to throw in the mix for later on. Just think how many will want a stick IS-F!

There's a whole community of SC400 owners hooking up the V160 and even the 5-spd W58 to the old 1UZ V8's. I'd love to eventually get an IS350, but I hate the fact that it doesn't come in manual like a true sports car should. The fact that Lexus today doesn't have a single manual tranny car except that POS IS250 which is Corolla slow is what's keeping me from even considering getting a new Lexus.

We dont need people like you in the community. If you want to be able to shift yourself get a "race car", go buy a 240.

F1 went to automatic back in the early 90's... even the prancing horse is mostly automatic... wanna race brackets at your local quarter mile? its mostly all automatics... NHRA/IHRA is all automatics... my mom drives automatic n she used to race dirt circle track (w/a manual thou )...

*edit* btw, some of the nicest show 2IS here in hawaii are 250's owned by CHICKS! (kameamalu's car is actually his gf's car, he just posts for her )

This guy will make you a custom bell housing. Then all you have to do is fab a tunnel brace and cut the drive shaft to the right size. Should be an easy build.

Good luck sir, btw the PCM/ECU will throw codes on the 350 but it won't cause and engine issues. Also the V-160 may not have the best gearing for the IS350 rev. band. The Supras would/could rev. to 8K the 350 only 6.5K. The 6 speed out of a Corvette would be a better match. Enjoy.

The 350 and IS-F don't have a clutch pedal because they're performance cars... why would you wanna slow em down with a 3rd pedal?

As llamaboiz and others have noted, "real" performance vehicles are ditching the antique clutch pedal fast as they can... even on a porsche if you want to go faster you get the PDK, not the stick.

All that said, I'd be kinda surprised if the ECU didn't do more than just throw an engine light if it no longer had inputs from the transmission given how integrated all the systems are. I'd honestly expect a limp mode behavior (or at very least losing VSC/TRAC control if not more)

No, it's not. That's just ludicrous, your supposition (that a base civic does 0 to 60 faster than 8 seconds) isn't even in the right ballpark.

This is what manual is good at -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gebi...ure=grec_index

Manual is good at potentially turning a high 12 to low 13 second bone stock car (Nissan 370z optimal conditions) into a high 14 second car (14.7 on that run - poor shifting + inevitable greater lag from manual shifting versus automatic)

It's painful to watch how slow those manual shifts are compared to an automatic. Painful.

To the OP: there's no need to alienate the plurality of the members by saying their car is a "POS." It's a community, be positive. 250 < 350 < ISF < a lot of other cars. If has used the SEARCH you would have probably figured out that the task which you wish to complete is going to be at best ridiculously expensive.

As an aside, you just called out every Ferrari currently made, Bugatti Veyron, Aston Martin DBS, Alfa 8C, Lexus LF-A, and a host of other cars none of use will ever be able to afford. I would DEFINITELY take an Alfa 8C over any Lexus. That thing is sex on wheels.

I'm not saying manny tranny is crap. Everyone has preferences. But if you think a PDK Cayman S won't show a manual Cayman S its back bumper in just about every situation, I've got a bridge to sell you.
