Default Urgent: Need help! Steering problem!! Update on Pg2

So tonight, I drove my car to a friends house to grab something. I turned off my car when I went inside for about 10 minutes. After I got back to my car, I turned it on, took off the e-brake, and put it into drive. I put my hand on the steering wheel and start to drive. As soon as I touched the steering wheel, it started shaking violently back and forth. I tried to grab control of it but I was unable to (I'm 205LBs and pretty strong). I let go of the wheel and it continued shaking non stop left and right. I tried turning the car on and off many times, and every time I touched the steering wheel, it went crazy.

I called a friend and we took off the P/S B fuse and put it back in, and everything seems to be okay now... but I'm scared as **** to drive it anymore. I'm curious to know if this has happened to anyone else and if anyone knows what could have triggered this. Thanks.

That would have been scary on the freeway, haven't heard of this happening before. Could be a sensor thinking the car is losing traction, that's one of the few times I know the steering wheel to hold a certain position, like a PID loop...horribly overshooting though. Did you ever get the steering rack recalled?

Another member on here had this same problem. What year is your car? It might just be a defective year.

My car is a 2007. My buddy has a '07 as well, he's problem free so far. I'm just really scared to drive it now.

I'm going to bring it in to the dealer after the holidays to see if they can figure it out. I've been notified that if the dealer cannot replicate the problem, they will just ignore it... which is my biggest fear.

I haven't gotten any notifications for any recalls. What was the problem for the steering rack recall?

That's really odd, are your wheels okay?

Yeah, my wheels are fine. It was just my steering wheel shaking violently.

Did you get the TSIB for the steering rack? I think it's time to visit the dealership.

Yup, if you can't replicate it for the dealership they won't help you at all.

I had a problem with a door saying it's open when I would go around turns and I had to find out how to replicate it perfectly every time... that's when they would only fix it for me.

Good luck. That's pretty scary man.

The other poster with the violently shaking wheel already had the steering rack service campaign (it's a service campaign (recall), not a TSIB) done, so this might be unrelated.

Hmmm, it was at night and pretty dark out. I tried to take a video on my phone but it isn't clear at all. Guess I'll show them what I've got and hopefully they can figure something out.
