20's wheel set-up rubbing. Please advise what to do?
Hi CL Peeps,
I just installed my Work VS-XX 20x9 (225/35) and 20x10 (275/30) on my IS. The wheels looks really great and my wheel set-up is on the aggresive side.
My problem now with our rough and uneven roads here in the Philippines, i rub at the back a lot even without a person sitting at the back. Worse if there's someone sitting in the rear passenger seat. I also rub at the front. I'm lowered on Tein CST coilovers with no finger stance (around 2inch drop front and 1.5 at the rear) set at the soft side.
I already shaved the heck out of my rear fenders and i still have the rubbing problem. My question is what is the best solution for this?
1. Do i shave more? i shave the before the welds end in the rear fender. i know that if you shave after this point, the fender will weaken?
2. I buy camber kit for front and rear?
3. Harden the settings on the tein dampers? to minimize play of the shocks in bumps
4. buy new set of tires for the rear 255/35/20. dunno if this will work because according to the tire size calculator this is thicker .4inch diameter but sidewall will be thinner
5. set the ride height higher... but i love a low stance this is my last choice
6. any other solutions?
Also i have only minimal rubbing up front, do i roll or shave? the front fenders with the plastic fender liner covers how to go about this? Hope you guys can help me on my problem. Thanks for looking!
some pics (sorry iphone cam only, will post clear pics soon)

well we all know when you ride low on coils you need to set the dampeners to firm rather than soft... BUT... your in the PI and i KNOW about your roads (riding on hwy express )... so... your only choice is to raise the height.

You should try out the Falkens452 with 235/30/20 fronts and 255/35/20 rears that should give you a little bit more stretch and lower Proflie. I dont think you should raised it tho, cause its going to look weird. Well I know its not the best solution but shaving more will acutally help.. i have a 4 inch lip for the rears and the lip sticks out about 2mm so i shave everything off and it helped alot btw set everything on Hard to avoid more rubbing..

phil888,
i also rub a lot when the rear part bottoms out. so did you completely shave everything in that part? it is okay to past the welds and just reseal it with a sealant?
for the fronts, do i need to shave or roll? how will i do about it the plastic liner, will i completely remove it or just cut some parts of the pladtic liner? pls advise thanks!
i guess i should also put it in the hard setting can't go any lower profile tires because of the bad roads here...
