Key not detected...

The manual key suggestion raises a concern for me. (sorry for thread jacking) I can't lock my glove box with this key. I haven't tried the door lock yet but do you guys think this will run into the same problem as my glovebox?

Probably. If you can't lock the glovebox with the key, then for whatever reason you don't have the right key for your car. You can get one cut at your dealership. Or you can order one precut for your car from Sewell after verifying your car's info and your ownership (~$60 with CL discount)

The procedure for opening the car door with the key, and starting the engine by holding the fob next to the starter button, is very important. A friend of mine was convinced that the car battery was dead and bought a new one - which actually solved nothing. It was the battery in the fob all along.

My dealer, Lexus of Dayton, has twice now replaced the battery in im FOB for absolutely free. No wait, strike that, I ate a cookie and had a cup of coffee (in th 15 minutes that theys spent).

I just replaced the battery in my fob as I couldnt gain access without the key and although I am getting a light in the fob the fob is still not opening or locking the car. It was fine last night, any ideas anyone.

Well I was left stranded today. I was just at the dealership here 2 months ago getting a free replacement battery. So I didn't think it could be that already. I tried like 20 times to get it started. I guess I was in denial lol. I ended up causing the brake pedal to get stuck down .. to where there was no play when car was off. While I waited to ditch my car and be picked up.. I decided to actually bust out the owner's manual and read. CR1632 battery. This battery was actually hard for me to find. Walgreens was out, walmart was out, finally Radio Shack had this. One battery for $6 or a 3pk for $13. Got the 3 pack and replaced the battery. Went back to my car and tried. Nothing. Pissed! A warning/notification came on about needing to push the brake to start the car. So I just put both feet on the brake pedal and pushed with all my might, hard.... then finally it started. It released and all was good. Here's a pic of the page in the manual for future reference for anyone who doesn't have it handy.
