this is not what he's talking about. he has a convertible, and the seat moves up and back for rear access. You have memory seats as part of the Lux or Sport Pkg.
Unless, of course, the convertible is the same as the sedan. Then it's as Koz said, and that's an LPS that you can't change yourself.

What you're talking about is the special button that tilts/slides the seat forward automatically, which IS specific to the convertible.
But, that feature is independent of the memory seat package that all IS's with said memory package have.

Just bought a new IS350(C) and the dealer was showing us stuff and ended up disabling the seat sliding back when the door is opened. This really helped with entry since my mom sits VERY close to the wheel since she is on the shorter side.
I tried to re-enable this feature to no end and can not get it to work. I am missing something.
I want the seat to slide back when I open the door and then slide back up when the engine is started to the driver saved driving position.
Thank you so much for your help.

I'd wager as soon as the seat memory was set for your mom, what appeared to be a feature disappeared because now the seat ECU knows a seating position.
Seriously, if you want to fix it, you'll need to set a different memory button for yourself and link your key to it. That way when you press the unlock button on the key you'll get your position. If you're a nice guy, you'll link your mom's key to her position so she's not inconvenienced either.
