So the famous first line, I've searched and did not find the answer.

My question is for the member who are using the 10K OCI with an filter change and top off only at 5K. When doing the filter change how do you remove the filter with out the oil gushing out. Or do you empty it and re-use the oil? Sorry if it's a newbie question (and yes this is my first DIY with the canister type filter) and all my past experience with DIY oil change always included a filter change. Thanks guys.

I would honestly remove it with the oil coming out and then top off with fresh oil. You won't loose an insane amount. If you keep your oil cap on, it will reduce the oil flow a little. Filters should be changed every 5k IMO despite the extended duration oil used.

When you remove the oil filter, there's only about 1/2 quart of oil (if that much) that will come out. You'll only need to add enough oil to make sure you're in between the high and low marks on the dipstick, which is never very much.

For updates, you must be reffering to Javier? He has all the fun in Cali with mods. I myself am in desperate need of lowering springs and tint. I have to wait a month though, I have no time currently (LOL).

^LOL. Yeah, I'm having LOADS of fun in Cali with my Prius... I did get to see my car Saturday though - it's being painted this week and there's a good chance I'll have it back by the end of the week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I See (LOL)!!! Javier, if it makes you feel any better, I would gladly drive the Prius as a daily driver and use the 2gen for the weekends to keep the miles off the beast!!!
