Offset and 19" Wheels

Offset and 19" Wheels
This is my first time looking at aftermarket wheels, so please be patient. I've read many posts and I'm finally starting to figure out how offset works. I'm still confused on how to calculate offset in order to get a flush to fender look on my IS350.
I'm looking at getting Work VS-XX wheels, and the ones I have found are 8.5 +45 front and 9.5 +45 rear. How will this look? Would the rear wheels stick out too far? Would I need spacers up front to get the flush look?

I figured it out today during physics lecture haha
basically take width of rim * 25.4 mm/inch and divide that by 2 and thats the zero offset
take what you have subtract the offset of your rims, thats the the length of your rims will stick out from your rotar and lets call it "d"
the easiest way to do this is to to go and measure your current car, figure out how much more the rims you wanna extend out, calculate the "d" for your current rim, and add the extra length you want it... the do the calculation backwards for all the different rim width of 8, 8.5, 9.5 etc to give yourself an approximate offset for each rim width

I measured the distance from the outer edge of my wheel to the fender, and I'm getting ~24 or 25 mm. Using an offset calc It looks like the used wheels i've found would extended the front wheels outward by 8 mm and the rears by 18mm. I'd be losing 6mm front and 8mm rear interior clearance. Is there some type of spacer I can get to make up the difference? Or should I wait for a better match to come along?

Your options based off the WORK Jp fitment chart, (IS350 big brakes front):
FRONT (R-DISK): 19x8.5 / +40 = 34mm lip (this will fit perfectly w/ 235 tire)
19x8.5 / +28 = 47mm lip (this will need stretched tires)
FRONT (R-DISK): 19x9 / +34 = 47mm lip (this should fit fine with a 225 tire)
REAR (O-DISK): 19x9.5 / +42 = 72mm lip (should fit perfect w/ 275 tire)
19x9.5 / +29 = 84mm lip (will need stretched tires)
REAR (O-DISK): 19x10 / +38 = 84mm lip (should fit fine with a 265 tire)
So, if you want VIP stretched tires, go +28 F / +29 R
If you want no hassles, but kind of boring, go +40 F / +42 R
If you want a good mix of flush and minimum hassles, go +34 F / +38R
With the IS350, there is no way you are going to run some random A-DISK wheels with the big brakes up front, at least not without having to run at least 15mm spacers to clear the brake caliper.

Thanks folks!! It looks like these wheels would be too much of a pain, especially for a beginner. I'll just have to keep looking/waiting for a better fit... Atleast I learned something!

Sorry about jacking your thread, but I have the same question about getting a set of VS-XX with the following specs for my IS350:
19x9.0 +47 Offset, R dish, 37mm front lip, with 245/35/19
19x10.0 +48 Offset, O dish, 75mm front lip, with 275/30/19
I wonder if there will be any rubbing issues in the front.... Thanks guys!!

ehm 37 offset is quite agressive especially with 19x9, it is wide enough and using 35 series tire is hard to pull of without rubbing especially if you plan to drop it even with SPRINGS...

1. How much of a drop will you go?
2. Tires, will you go for the big tire look or vip stretch look?
*btw* those offsets you chose +45, no you wont be flush, you'll be tucked in under the fender, very conservative.
umm... no. 37 isnt aggressive at all... aggressive is +19/20's

mischaw, you could go with the 8.5 +28 and 9.5 +29 and that would be pretty flush. you dont have to do an extreme stretch but 225/35 front and 255/35 rear would be perfect even if you plan on a drop. fender mods will depend on your camber.
blk_is300, that offset is VERY conservative. you didint have to run a R disc front, you could have went with a A disc and had more lip in front and still clear your brakes. with your specs, you should not rub fender but if you plan on lowering your car, you MIGHT just rub the inner plastic liner cause you got some meat on your tires.

2. BBK is not considered at this moment, but I can always add some spacers to accomodate BBKs right?
My major concern is that if the front wheels will be rubbing against the control arms...

some shops dont even roll fenders cause its a liability thing. just do it yourself. its pretty easy but you have to be patient.
when i say rubbing inner plastic liner, i mean the plastic thats under the front fender. usually the outside of the tire rubs it not the inside so you wont need a spacer, if fact a spacer would make it worse.

Yes, i rub the liner only under certain conditions, when the car is angled going up my driveway from the curb, but im at full slam front tein SS, really really minor nothing to worry about. RUNUMHARD!!!
