Wierd tire Noise in my 07' IS250! What tires to buy??
I just purchased a used 2007 IS250 from my Lexus Dealer, it has 12,000 miles on it and I test drove it and everything seemed great, well after a few days having it, i am noticing ALOT of road noise coming through, no wind noise, but more like from the tires... I checked the tires and they seem like more than 50% left, I have the Bridgestone Potenza RE050 18"
Is this normal? Do these cars just pick up road noise more than others? I have to turn up the radio to drown out the hum, or more like
whhaa whaaaa whaaa whaaaa, but faster.. you get it..
Ive owned a ford back in the day that had a bad wheel bearing and it kinda sounds like that, but i cant figure out where the hum is coming from
Should I take it back to the dealership?
Thanks!!

i got a weird noise too, if someone could hop in my car, i'll roll up the windows then if they could pull my finger, you'll hear it
One thing, i would take it in for service because what if its not just the tire, it could be bearings/reardiff, but yea most commonly its the tires.

Since my car was new I noticed tire noise.
It was goooouuu or whauuuuu whauuuuu (hard to describe) something like this..but didn’t bother me until now.
I recently changed tire from RE050 and sooooo surprised noise level
Now I can hear exhaust a little and could lower radio volume….
Just wanna say… Yes. RE050….pretty noisy I think.

Well thats good to hear!! Thanks!
My next question is tire size! I'd love to put larger tires on the rear, just for that look, on the stock 18X8.5 rears, what do people suggest? Will these fit?
275/35/18?
265/35/18?
Fronts are fine left original imo.. 225/40/18

I have General Exclaim UHP on my 18" wheels. Aggresive summer tread. Much more quiet than stock dunlops even after 20k on the tires. I get about 30k of highway travel on each set of tires. The General tires are cheaper, and they don't hold the road as well, but they are predictible and you know when they will break loose. If you do track days, don't get them, but spirited driving and everywhere they are fine (except snow and cold).
Your sidewalls will be different on each so find a good circumfrence that closely matches stock. I have 245/35/18 on the rear and love the size. I added about 2mpg over stock tires. My winter tires, Michelin Alpina, are 235/40 and I don't like the look as much, but they grip the snow/slush great and again the tread seems to eat a tad more gas.
