Actually, I was basing on the fact that he hasn't come to hate them yet....I just assumed that they were potenzas because I find it hard to believe that there is enough acid in the world for someone to like the turanzas.

He commutes 200 miles a day. Mostly freeway and straight line driving I pressume. It makes sense to last that long if he's commuting that way.

I have about 12k on my orig Bridgestone Potenza RE050 with pretty good wear. One thing that sticks out to me is that I hear them rubble when going down the road. Didn't hear that as much in the earlier miles. Overall it isn't a bad tire, just not great. I think I might try the Bridgestone Potenza RE050 PP's next instead.

I got 32k on my original RE050s and I have RE050A PP with 13k on them and they're not even close to 50% yet. This is consistent with the mileage I've got on three sets of S-02's and two sets of S-03's on my Supra. I changed the RE050s because the shoulders on the front tires were gone and the chafer was visible in spots at the edge. Still plenty of tread in the middle. Rears had less than 1mm left when I changed them.

Sure if you light them up regularly, you'll be buying new tires frequently, but saying these tires only last 15k in normal service is just not accurate. And yes, they do get much louder as they wear out.

The Bridgestones on our 2007 IS are really loud IMO. My Goodyear Eagle F1s are far superior tires.

I have a '07 IS350 with about 28k miles on it. I have the potenza 050A's and the front tires are about shot. I think the rears are in pretty good shape. I got this car used afew months ago and the previous owner didn't check the tire pressure often enough, the left front tire was eight pounds low. That tire is showing more wear on the outside edge and so the two front tires will be replaced soon. I'm looking at new 050A's, because I haven't had the car long enough to form a good judgement on the tires. I also have heard some good things about the GY F1's ( have been checking out Tirerack site & others] any suggestions?

I got about 30k out of my potenza's (90% hwy driving). I could've gotten another 5 to 10k out of them. I ended up replacing them with Goodyear F1 A/S and they have been very good so far.

guess i am one of the few that like the Bridgestone Potenza RE050. I am considering ordering the RE050A or the Pole Position.

From my experience (and my take on the general consensus among CLers) potenzas are ok to very good, it's the turanzas that are rubbish.

I can vouch for the Turanza's being rubbish..they're treadwear rating is a sad 140 and for a tire with that low of a treadwear rating they don't grip even half its worth. I ran Falken Azenis RT615's that are rated the same and they were intense tires..silent when they broke loose though, which was scarier than hell at times

yea the Turanza'a i can say are a trouble tire. They where OEM on the Acura TL in 05 i believe when they changed the body style? i worked for Acura at the time and it was one of the biggest comlaints. I spoke to a tire rep and i was told its not that the tires are bad they where meant for a minivan or something like that. maybe you can search this info. I want to say the 2nd year model they started to put better tires on but it was random on what cars got it with the exception of the 6spd man trans.
