Default SNow mode...does what to the engine???

Just a question.....does snow mode decrese the response to accelerator
( since drive by wire)

or does it actually retard timing, fuel mixture, etc. to decrease power

Little confused

thanks

i think its a rev limiter??? it won't allow you to accelerate fast. thats my understanding.

just the tranny is affected, keeps the motor in the low revs by shifting sooner to higher gears, lot less prone to down shift when you accelerate. basically keeps you from putting down power to the road quickly so u don't break the rear tires loose and keep traction. there is no rev limiter it'll let you rev all through the rev band.

ect power is essentially the opposite, hold lower gears for longer, less prone to upshift to a higher gear and holds revs up higher, throttle response increased.

Snow mode does change the throttle response curve to make it less "tritchy", but it still allows the engine to go to wide open throttle when you put the pedal to the floor. The rest involves the transmission shift points. As as3.0cl mentioned, it will shift up earlier, and resist shifting down when you increase throttle. However, if you use the paddles, it really behaves more like a manual tranny when in Snow mode, since the other modes are more likely to downshift on you without you forcing it.

Unfortunately, ECT-PWR is not quite the opposite. It does allow more revs before upshifts, but it still shifts earlier than ECT-Normal. Basically, if you are drag racing, ECT-Normal is the best choice. Lexus really screwed it up...
