actuley a easy way to add gass milage is to add a turbo. fi adds gpower and increases gass millage. check out the saturn sky and the redline sky the red line gets 2 mpg more than the base and has 100 more hp. or give me a deasel

Not exactly. Brake specific fuel consumption for forced induction is always worse than for naturally aspirated. This is primarily because forced induction requires a lower static compression ratio AND forced induction has to run richer to stave off detonation. Adding a turbo or supercharger makes the engine LESS efficient from a thermal perspective, but far more powerful. Just not more powerful per gram of fuel consumed.

Of all the Lexus vehicles, the IS is the least likely to get one. A compact sports sedan that will be heavier is not "sporty." The GS, RX, and LS can get away with it because of their relative size, but the IS would be counter-intuitive.
If the IS gets a heavy battery pack, it needs to have huge improvements in power, just like how the IS-F got heavier with huge improvements in power...

I figured with the current price of gas we'd hear more from Lexus about these by now. And yes, you don't need to do a chart of extra cost for a hybrid vs. savings on gas - not everyone who wants a hybrid thinks they are savig money in fact I doubt many people actually think that. Of course when gas goes to $7 a gallon in a few years some people might be saving money.

Much of the current high prices is due to panic and uncertainty, not any real economic reasons. The weak US economy and dollar are the other big reason... and that's always cyclical... in a couple years that wil lbe better, and gas'll likely be cheaper than it is now, it sure as heck won't be 7 bucks a gallon. Supply ain't the issue either, despite the fearmongers there's plenty of oil to be had.
I can't figure out why people would buy a hybrid if they don't think they're saving money (which they generally aren't)... it can't be for environmental reasons since Hybrids aren't really that great for that.(though I suppose folks might think otherwise just like they mistakenly think they'll save a fortune on gas by paying thousands extra up front on a hybrid too).

^ well i think the majority of the buyers are pretty uneducated about the topic and just buy into the fact that: Their car runs on battery, not gas. Gas is evil, if i don't use gas i'm being enviro friendly. They dont know what producing the battery costs for the enviro, nor what its disposal will cause, they just think its a GAS crisis, not a chemical issue, so if their not using gas, they are doing the right thing
The folks who made the movie I Am Legend think that gas will go that high, if you notice the gas stations in that movie i think the prices are around 7.70/gal =p, although i agree, the rising price of gas is mainly due to inflation and the weak US dollar. Importing all that gas, and the value of our currency decreases... obviously the amount of money needed will be higher to buy it.
