Default Got my 2006 IS250 loaner- Definitely getting the warranty now!!!!

all I can say is that i'm shocked.

12,500 miles on the IS250 AWD loaner I got last night, and all I can say it that i'm 100% getting the extended warranty now.

This car has done nothing for the confidence I had in Lexus quality. Yes....its a loaner, but any car with 12,000 miles should be 99.99% as solid as when it came out of the factory. Will it run for 200,000 miles....probably...but what will it sound/feel like?

The car feels overly cheap. The buttons on the steering wheel are loose and flimsy, it has every rattle and squeak that has been discussed on this board, from the pillars, to the dash crack, the seat rail squeak, vent rattles, door rattles...etc.

Maybe they changed some things around in 2007, because my IS350 feels so much better and feels like a totally different car. I hope to god that my car doesn't feel like this at 12,000 miles because my next car will definitely not be a lexus.

loaner cars are like rental cars, people abuse them, and only minimum maintenance is given to ensure it runs. Especially given it's a new model car and with IS being in great shortage it's quite possibly that these loaners have been joy rided with friends as well.

I wouldn't worry about lexus quality. If you are concern, go ask another IS owner who've had 12,000 miles on their own car, which has been properly taken care of.

Hitting 13,000 miles soon and car is fine. Like stated above, people beat on it like a rental. I baby my car and I know it will last a long time. It's all dependent on how you treat the vehicle. Just my $.02.

Don't quite see the connection between your loaner and your need to getting an extended warranty for your own vehicle. Loaners are usually driven hard by uncaring people, and maintenance is usually lacking. It is not indicative of how a carefully driven and maintained personal car will perform. My 2006 IS350 is as tight as a drum, so it is nothing to do with 2006 vs 2007.

creeping up to my 2is's first birthday and the 15k mark, and it's still as good as day one.

those loaners get abused to no end. only if you heard some of the horror stories about what these loaners get put through, or what happens to them while they're out w/ customers...

it's a loner. I had RX, ES, Old IS and it's all the same. What I can tell you is that the old IS does feel good even though they are older.

WE have almost 25k on each of our IS and it still rides like new. I guess I take care well to both of the cars..

Ok, I understand where you're all coming from...but I still feel that it would be hard to do that much damage to a $30,000 car at 12,000 miles....beating the crap out of it or not.

I was just really surprised.

would it not impress you if you got into a loaner that was beat on and it was rock solid? That would be nice. If I were lexus, I'd put some thought into how well they maintain their loaners.

kickin8: as far as the extended warranty, the platinum warranty reads as if every single defect is covered. I could be wrong, but I will clear it up when I buy it.

Don't forget that you can buy the extended warranty anytime while your original warranty is still in effect. You don't have to do it ASAP.

You'd be surprised how some people abused their loner. It's sad but some people just beat the hell out of their loners and rentals.

My car is getting close to 20K miles and it still feels like brand new to me.

You should have been in the RX350 I was given. It had 9k miles and looked like it was about 80k on wear. The truck though still drove wonderfully and had plenty of pep.

Completely agree with all re: loaners/rental cars. OP, you must not have driven many loaners in your young lifetime. Everyone, including current Lexus owners beat on the loaner cars, myself as well - when I got an Acura TL or Tsx as loaners for my Mdx, you better believe I pushed them hard to see how they drive/ride. I guarantee you that those who had to put gas in their loaners, pumped the cheap stuff and not premium. My father got a '07 ES for a loaner when he took his LS in, car had barely 6k miles, but you could smell the cigarette smoke and see evidence of coffee stains on the mats. You cannot judge a car's longterm reliability on the Dealers' loaner fleet - that's what JD Powers is for . . .
