Quite a few Lexus models do have smart key buttons on all 4 doors, however the IS does not.

There were 2, one inside the trunk to detect if it was closed in there, and 1 on the trunk which detects if you are standing outside it. The one inside the trunk has been discontinued.
Does anyone know how to change the ASL? right now it is either ON or OFF.
In my 2003 Mazda, I had 3 levels of ASL that I could choose from and was very helpful in case I was driving rough roads or noisy tires.
Dont know if anyone mentioned this--didnt read everything. When turning on heat,a/c you can hit either button /\ or \/ once . The fan will go on to first position .
^ Your dealer has to program it for you. It's part of the "Lexus Personalized Settings." Technically, you're only allowed to change the programming once for free, and they charge you after that. However, if you're going in for service or a recall, they'll usually do the programming for free.
ahh i see. thank you brociouz. you and Jeff have been helpful in answering my question. i will ask the dealership to program this for me, hopefully free of charge, on my complimentary oil change.
I just learned from another thread that the rear head restraints fold down. I just removed mine the other day to get a little more visibility from my rear window. Now I can put them back in and fold them down!

Thanks!
ASL on the IS is automatic. There are 3 levels and they adjust automatically depending on how much noise is encountered. Also in my opinion it is useless as the difference in sound is very minimal and after you pass a certain stereo volume level it doesn't actuate at all.

I discovered today that when you play an MP3 cd that you can use the preset 1 and preset 2 buttons under the display to pick a random song or activate repeat respectively. I was kind of pressing the #1 to see what would happen not even noticing the word "random" above it on the display. I kept wondering why there was no sequence to which track popped up...I guess that's why they call it random!
