Easy rubbing fix...
I too had the rubbing against the plastic tab behind the front wheels closest to the driver and passenger even before and after I put aftermarket wheels and tires.
Here is a pic of the area that is rub, I fixed the problem using a heatgun to heat that plastic area and used a clean tower to push it against the fender.
the rubbing got nothing to do with the offset or dropping the car because it's rubbing on the side of the wheelwell, just the overall diametter of the tires that make it rub when you turn the car. Just go to the car, have someone turning the wheel for you and take a close look at the gap behind front wheel and the the fender liner. It gets real small when you turn.

tire width would contribute to this type of rubbing I would think. Slap on a wider tire now the wider tire is swinging around in a larger radius and getting close to the wheel well splash guards like above
what I think about rubbing so far:
fender rubbing = bad offset, suspension drop, tire size combination
wheel well rub = bad tire size
i know there are more people than this with aftermarket wheels, i need their setup info then we can avoid fitment issues like this by finding out which offset, tire size, suspension combinations work and dont work and avoid repeat threads of "will this fit" "will this rub" etc
Judging from the number of views this post has, I would think people would be extremely interested in this information. I just need more of it

I notice that i have a lil rub inside the front wheelwell when i make a hard turn. I was aware of that problem thou. I wanted +38 offset but they only have +40 on that rims. Plus i rather have a lil rub on the inside than having rub on the outside of the fender and wheels sticking out. These rims i plan to have it for a year or two just to test with the car being drop soon. Later i'll get a nice perfect one for this car.

When I have two passenger etc on rear seat accompanied with passenger front on well on highway when I get a bump I hear the rear rub again the outer fender (the part that people usually roll) but makes no damage to tire or car its self, you just hear it rub when you get a hard bump.
And in the front when you turn in about 90 degree angle it rubs against front wheel well plastic which i got a heat gun to push the plastic a little bit in to get rid of this problem. I remember another member on the forum with 20" doing it as well.

If your speedometer reads: 65 You're going approximately: 68.87. Here is the link for tire calculator: http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos
I have 275/30/20 with a higher offset: +43 and never had rear rubbing problem.

Wheels ?
Is it possible to run 18x9's in the rear with stock tires ? I wanna keep the stock tires and get a set of lightweight wheels with same offsets if possible ? I'm thinking maybe Lexions 203's nice and light.

275 width fits on 9.5" fines
stock 255 width fits on stock 8.5" fine
I guess you can go 18x9 on stock tires but dont try stock offset of +50, have to lower the offset if youre getting a wider wheel than stock

Lexus IS model: 350
Wheel Make & Model: Volk Racing GT-7 RBC
Wheel Size (diameter and width): 19 x 8.5 F & 19 x 9.5 R
Wheel Offset Front: +36
Wheel Offset Rear: +36
Tire Make and Model: Toyo Proxes T1-R
Tire Size Front: 235/35/19
Tire Size Rear: 275/30/19
Suspension mods: stock
Amount of drop: none
I am very pleased with the wheels & tires. Like I mentioned they dont rub at all and ride is even better than stock. Braking is so much better also. The Toyo T1-R are such a improvement from the T1-S. The ride comfort and noise are all much better.
