gas mileage during break-in period?
My IS250 AWD is a little over a week old, and I'm currently on my second tank of gas. It says I'm averaging around 16~17mpg, and I think that's a bit low... I've been trying hard to vary the RPM, so maybe that's affecting the gas mileage? So far I've only been doing city driving, and most of the time in traffic too, so maybe that could be another reason as well.
Will the gas mileage gradually get better? This is my first new car, so this is all new to me. (please go easy on me ) Thanks in advance.

I too have been getting really low gas mileage. I've been trying different things, such as going easy on the gas, etc, but my tank average has been 16.9 for the past 3 fillups or so. I have yet to get above 18's. I do mostly in city driving, with some interstate, but I am getting no where near the 20's that others are getting. I plan on manually checking and calculating at my next fill up. Oh and I have about 3000 miles on my car now.
And yes, sitting in traffic does lower your mileage tremendously. I also believe the AWD model is heavier, again leading to more gas consumption. I have an IS350.
