WOW! More viewing the new IS then any other lexus model!!!
86 people as of 12:36am on 10/14/05....

Yea I like the new IS to, but have never seen such a high level of intrest in any given model. I guess alot of Lexus owners are ready to trade up...

Is that the case? Would you trade you current Lex. for the new IS?

I like the new look and power plant just like I like the new BMW's, but wouldn't ever sell my twin turbo SC for one. Now I may just buy one to fool around, but I wouldn't trade my baby for one....

But then again since I have no car payments, I might just pick up a new IS or GS just to feel the new Lexus........... vs the Original!

So my family went to an IS Release Event to check out the car.

My dad loves his BMW 530i. No way would he change that. Strike one.

My sister owns a GS300. She saw the IS and as much as she loves the new design and technology, she likes bigger cars. Strike two.

My girlfriend owns an Acura Integra. She only would buy an IS coupe. She actually thought the IS was too big. Strike three.

I ordered this car over two months ago. I sold my old car and have been riding my motorcycle to work in L.A. traffic, waiting for the day my IS arrives. Homerun!

I would love to get rid of my old IS and get the new one. I am jonsin' all the new features on the new one, like the ventilated seats(I need them badly here in Vegas!), NAV, the 9 poition mooroof dial, AFS, etc. I am curious how the backseat is in the new IS, though.

Oh, the dreaded backseat. If you have the 1st gen IS, there is not much difference in backseat room. I barely was able to put my feet under the seat in front of me. O.K. for small trips in the neighborhood, but too cramped for long trips or carpooling. Three kids, or two adults under 5'8" should be comfortable back there. Taller adults will wish you had a bigger car.

Yeah, I'd trade it in a second. Just waiting for the snowy seasons to go away.

Don't get me wrong, I love my ES. Best car I've owned yet, although I've owned 2, and the first one was a lemon Cavalier.

Crap cupholders, disappointing handling, lifeless driving experience all lead up to the 2IS being a MAJOR candidate. I drove a 250 today (can't get into a 350 yet, none were available), and that's the fastest 204 HP I've ever experienced

To be 100% honest, I'd probably be content with a 250, but no way am I going to let the perfect craftsmanship of the 350's engine slip away from me this time.

quick question.... I want to know what you guys and girls think..... tomorrow I am going to check out the new IS's in person..... if I get one I would get a 250RWD.....should I or should I not test drive the 350 as well? There is no chance that I will be getting the 350 and I just want to try it out anyway, but will it totally turn me away from the 250 if I give it a go?

It depends on how you drive. The IS250 is functionally fast. It will get you onto the freeway or pass another car without trouble. But the IS350 is dramatically fast! It will get you onto the freeway and pass another car without a second thought.

Oh jeeze.....I am the type of person that if sat behind the wheel of something like that I would not be able to settle for anything less....other than that problem there is another problem....my only shots of getting the IS is if I get the 250 RWD......

My girlfriend has a 2004 IS sports..... I drive her car quite frecquently ....feel the same way? Little more, little less? I am guessing the latter...

I still like my 01 IS300 very much, and just recently purchase an 06 GS300 over the summer, so no I won't be trading in my 01 IS anytime soon.

I wouldn't trade our RX330 since that is my wifes, but I'd trade my SC400 in less than a heartbeat for an IS350.

Well, I'm still undecided about letting her go, according to Lexus website they only made 1,243 1998 SC400's. I'd say that is rare. I'd go further to say that 1/4 of that figure the cars are probably gone from either accidents or decay from not taking care of the car, so that leaves the figure even lower for excellent condition cars, like mine. Everytime I drive my car, someone is asking me about it.

Here are the production #'s from Lexus (for those that don't believe me)
http://www.lexus.com/about/press_rel...e_01_06_a.html

But I do like the new IS and will probably buy 2nd model yr. IS350 only w/ ML/NAV.
