Hmm . . . looks like real aluminium on shifter & the 2 strips on each side, but the controls panel above shifter are of different material . . . painted plastic ?

Very, very nice. The designers got the proportions much better than the '06 GS. Additionally, the interior is much better than I had hoped for The seats with the thigh support and perforated leather look very similar to the new GS.

List of standard equipment from the front page article sounds very impressive With all of the competition in this segment, I'm guessing it will be reasonably priced (perhaps more expensive than the G35, but undoubtedly less than the upcoming E90 3-series).

For those who criticized the 204 HP of the IS250 as not beating BMW, their current 2.5 L inline 6 (which also sees duty in the much bigger 525i), only produces 184 HP as of model year 2005. I know the 3.0 L BMW engine will receive a power increase for 2006; I'm not sure if the 2.5 will be bumped above the 204 HP mark.

Few things I've noticed;

Even though there are controls for temperature for both driver and passanger, in between the vents at the center of console there is a dial with blue and red dots. What's that all about?

Also I can see that clock is liten up with white LEDs like GS preproduction. Why did they ever got rid of that white put in green only they know

Also center circle in the gauges will have outer glow. I am thinking something ala RL. If you look a the gauges you will notice blue glow coming from the center smaller cirlce.

On the side note those gauges are beautiful!!! Much more than those in GS!

Talking Smaller GS

The shape of the IS looks a lot like the GS. There are so many styling ques that are similiar. I definitely think that the look of the GS prepared everyone for the IS and that's why it is so well liked. I think it would be different if the IS came out before the GS. One thing for sure the New IS's interior definitely more luxurious and less sporty than the out going model. But I love the big round tachometers. Over all it is a very attractive car.

The E46 3-series has that too. It allows you to have different temp air blowing at your face and to the rest of the cabin. It's actually quite useful. I find that on long trips or in the early morning I want some cold air blowing at my face to keep me awake, but I don't necessarily want cold air in the rest of the cabin

The center stack looks like it's painted with the same paint that's used in the Mazda 6 (or it the 3, I forget, it's one of those two)

Wink

Looks like what Infiniti did with the G35 sedan and coupe, they wanted an aluminum look, but seeing no one liked it, they put real aluminum in the 2005 model. But this is much better looking than what Infiniti did.

BMW will offer a revised 325i for 2006, it's a little confusing but the 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine in the current version will be replaced by a 3.0-liter six in the '06 model. Output will climb from 184 to 215 horsepower, while torque is bumped from 175 to 185 pounds-feet.

The 2006 330i will still be a 3.0 litre I6, with output boosted from 225 to 255 horsepower. Torque is up modestly, from 214 to 220 pounds-feet.

Wow these are some awesome looking pics of the new IS. I have had my eye on the new GS but now that I have seen the interior shots on the IS. I have changed my mind. I am looking for something more sporty looking & I think this just might be the one.

What will the length of this new IS be?

Is the instrument panel white electro-luminicent display that Lexus is famous for? Like on my 98 SC400? From the pics it's looks like it might be.

I just love this interior, everything seems to flow perfectly inside especially the Nav. This will win hands down to the BMW 3 series E90, BMW killed the interior looks sooo bland & boring.

That would be Adaptive Cruise Control.
