Default New IS300 owner intro

Hi guys, Just wanted to say hi

I just picked up a 2002 5-spd IS300 on Saturday. It's Silver with black leather and alcantara interior. Has 128k miles and the engine seems to be in overall pretty good condition. The exterior and interior are definitely not as clean as I'd like but I think I got a pretty decent deal on it. Paid $7500.

Edit: Just got new tires, 215/45/17 Hankook v12 evo all around.

Anyways, here are just 2 pics i snapped last night.

This one is with my LS430 that my mom will drive now.

Radiator is a common problem, from your price quote looks like your going aftermarket. Have him also flush the system when he replaces it. Wait on the rear main until you have spots in the driveway. Replace brake fluid, power steering fluid also. Dont bother trying to cover up damaged panels. Try to find a good leather/vinyl repair guy. I have one in the Inland Empire Area

Thanks khay425 for your reply.

I was driving to work today and noticed some smoke/steam coming from the front and pulled over. The crack on the radiator must've gotten worse cuz the steam was coming from there. So I dropped it off at my mechanic to get it replaced as well as the valve cover gasket and the fluids.

They told me not to worry about the rear main seal until I replace the clutch, cuz then they would only charge $30 for the part... and also the leak wasn't even that bad. (i love honest mechanics!!)

Have you had your leather/vinyl repair guy do work on your car? Do you have an idea of what he would charge? My parents live in Upland so maybe i could use it as an excuse to go visit them or get my interior re-done.. lol

Next up is the audio...
Here's what I plan on..

Head unit: Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS
Front speakers: Image Dynamics CTX65CS or JBL P660c or MS-62c
Rear speakers: Image Dynamics CTX69
Amp: Precision Power P900.4
Sub: Image Dyanmics IDQ12v3 running Infinite Baffle firing thru ski-pass
Sub amp: Audioque aq750

Planning on taking everything to Tommy @ Music box who has tons of recommendations on CL.

I guess I can use this thread to update and keep track of what I do on my car...
