Default Just picked up an 04, some Q's

Hi everyone!

I just picked up a 2004 IS300 with 130k miles. It came fully loaded minus the nav system which I don't really care about. I had an 04 Mercedes C230 coupe(some guy totaled it) and even though I loved that car, I think I'm going to like this one more. It also has some exhaust on it, I'm not sure what kind but it isn't too loud and definitely sounds good. I pick up the car later today and I'm going to replace all the fluids/plugs and do a very careful check over then. There are definitely a few minor cosmetic issues on this one that I was able to overlook because of the price but the engine looks and sounds great. I'll know more when I go through it tonight.

Most importantly, the hood prop is missing...anyone know how much a replacement costs or where to get it cheap?

So the car definitely needs new tires. It is going to be mostly a daily driver, but as a grad student I plan to take it to some more fun roads from time to time. What would you guys recommend for something with both good grip and good lifetime?

I've seen the white side markers and would definitely like to get some of those, it was the first mod I did on my old car too. Any recommendations?

Also, if there are any other good, cheap mods to make the car look a little cleaner/go a little faster let me know.

EDIT: And the front emblem is missing, probably a dealer part but anyone know the cost?

Welcome man. Some things ive looked into.

-most likely the hood prop is cheaper on ebay. can always compare by calling the dealer. but yea my hood prop hook was broken when i bought mine.

-im gonna need new tires in the near future too. my 02IS came with Yokohama S.drives. Im thinking i wanna try Falken FK452. If not, Yokohamas it is, again.

Congrats!

Hood prop, last I checked they were $25 at the dealer, but that was quite awhile ago. You could always upgrade to FIGs props.

For tires, I like the Continental DWS.

There are two different types of clear sidemarkers, clear lense and textured lense, I prefer the textured lense ones myself.

Emblem, you can get it from the dealer or maybe ebay/forums if someone replaced theirs with an Altezza logo. Not sure on cost.

Make sure the timing belt service has been done, if you can't get 100% confirmation then I'd do that ASAP. Like don't drive another mile on it. At that mileage, check all bushings and ball joints too.

Good luck!

I second the continetal DWS or DW if you want more dry/wet grip by sacrificing some tread life.
