Get some alpine or jl audio speakers man look for some four ways so you can have some bass and still get that good sound ( like in BMW) that audio is garbage do it yourself and get what u want

The OEM sound systems sounds really good back then and even now. But once you go aftermarket head unit the entire system needs to be replaced because the two rear speakers will go bad. and the front are ok.

1. you need conversion kit for the dash
2. you need an amp to power the speakers ( not necessary but its always better)
3. Alpine Speakers are good, find ones with seperate tweeters
4. Get a Sub Woofer + Amp
5. Head unit.. double din? single din? gps?
6. the labor... if you can do it yourself i say go but i dont mess around with wiring at all.
this gonna run you alot of money bro, you should attack one mod at a time and not jump around so much. If your're gonna work on your system, spend all your time and money on that instead of jumping to an exhaust or spoiler or suspension or something else. its better to finish one project at a time.

i think that if you just worked on your window visors, you should get your window tint after, your real spoiler on the roof, black out headlights, lower your car, get some rims, your lip kit , exhaust, intake etc..... You see how the project flows? You cant jump around all the time cuz then nothing would ever be completed... Unless you got tons of money haha.
---this is IMO, everyone else has their own way of modding but i think this is the best way.

-------UPDATE------
yeah now i know what everyone means by the is300 has a good stock sound system already. ive been using the tape converter to 3.5 mm headjack for my ipod, and the tape is pretty bad quality.....
i found this out because my ipod ran out of batteries so i listened to the radio (which i hate listening to) and was like wow the quality is so much better
if i install a aux plug-in will it be the same quality as if playing from the radio? or could it be even better?
do you know where i can do this? im kind of noob sorry.

get some massive components for the front and back doors. a nice massive amp. 2 optima batteries. pioneer avic head unit. fiber glass two 12's in the trunk, dyno mat the whole car, drop some tvs in the head rest and sun visors, add some accent leds under the seats then add a grom with aux plug. It's that easy.

You can make it sound real good with just up grading the stock speakers and head unit. You don't have to spend a outrageous amount unless you want to. All depends on what sound your looking for. onlinecarstereo.com usually has some good deals, been buying from them for about 6 years.
