Question question about headers

Can i get headers with stock exhaust?
And can i pass smog with headers?

won't pass smog with headers - the catalytic converters are integrated into the factory exhaust manifolds... all aftermarket exhaust headers that I know of eliminate the factory catalytic converters...

you could potentially get O2 simulators for the rear O2 sensors which would trick the computer into thinking the cats are still there, but, if anyone looked under the hood, it'd be pretty obvious they were missing...

Well i live in california so , is that the only thing that wud have to be done to pass a smog?

To pass the OBD portion, yes, but I've heard Cali is pretty strict on the visual inspection and a set of shiny headers might be a big tipoff... perhaps a Cali owner can chime in

Headers won't pass the visual and the sniff test portion. I can't give you a definite answer because I only had to do a smog check once when I was stationed in San Diego and all I had was a catback exhaust.

PM or wait for rvalero to come across this post. He might know a thing or two about this.

Well we have plenty shops out here with coo ppl that dont even do the inspection part...
