Starting issues!!!!!!!! 01/IS300 auto
Ok here is the deal, first let me say I searched through alot of threads to no avail. I have a gs400 but thats not my basis for this thread. A good friend of mine with an 01/auto IS300 drove his car for a hour and a half to orlando. He got there did what he had to do and went to leave. When he got in the car he turned the key to start it and the motor just turned over. It did not fire at all or even spit and sputter. He tells me that he has plenty of gas, and no CEL or any idiot lights where on when he parked it. So I ask this other than the obvious fuses, is there anything common with the IS300 that would cause this that he can look at while the car is 90 miles away other than the dam fuses. I can diagnosis his problem if he had it at my shop but thats not the case. Im trying to save him a terrible tow bill, hopefully his AAA that he has is up todate. Thanks for your help guys

umm, try to find the starter and hit it... that sometimes works. if he turns the key and nothing is cranking over, tell him to HIT/bang on the starter with a pole or the tire iron and try to start it again. If that doesnt work then i dont know

^^^^^ some how you missed the part above where it says, "he turned the key to start it and the motor just turned over". Its not a starter issue however very well could be a fuel delivery issue or spark issue or something even greater as an ECU issue. I was looking for insight about stupid little problems known to happen to IS300s that this might be attributed to. Thanks for the advice though.

sounds like his furl pump went out or he blew the fuel pump fuse. more than likely its the pump. have him turn the car to the on position and see if he hears the fuel pump prime.
