Input on selling an 2005 IS300
Hey all, I am pretty new to this site. I am actually a big Honda freak and am part of many Accord, Integra Type R and SCCA related forums but I joined this site and MyIS because of my lady's 05 IS300.
We recently purchased her 05 IS about 4-6 months ago but she is not happy with the gas milage. Especially since shes a social worker, the wallet tends to hurt.
So we have decided that we are going to sell the IS and get her a Mini which would be better on gas.
What I need input on is the selling price. Here is the details
2005 Lexus IS300
Milage: 37,000 (the best part)
History: We are the second owner, we purchased the car from a dealership. The first owner was from Texas and on the west coast, so there is no rust. The car was in a little accident by the previous owner, I believe the hit was on the driver side rear door, it is the only one without a VIN. But it has been replaced. Body wise I would give it a 8.5 out of 10.
Interior: The interior is pretty flawless too. Of course the interior will be shampooed prior to sale
Exterior: The exterior will be waxed prior to sale. It has a blemish on the front bumper on the right corner and the left rear door has a ding on the lower area, its hard to see unless really looked at.
Engine seems to be running great, I recently did the first oil change with Mobil1 and Pure One Filter
Tires and Suspension: Stock suspension and tires are pretty much brand new. Bridgestone Potenza RE0-40 215/45/17.
Wheels have some marks on them from previous owner.
So the car is all stock and very low milage. I would to get an idea of what to sell her for. Thanks

I think if mods see this they're gonna delete this post because it's kind of a classified and you don't have a high enough post count. I'm not a rat, hopefully no one else says anything.
But to answer your question.
1 - Look up used car value / private party sale value on www.kbb.com and go from there.
2 - Look on autotrader.com and cars.com and see what other people with similar cars are selling their cars for.
3 - Don't even waste your time with craigslist you will get nothing but lowballers and you will be dealing with the scum of the earth who thrive on that site.
4 - get your post count up and make a couple friends on her or my.is and you can post a classified ad here too.
5 - Don't trade it in, you will get ripped off they'll give you like $6 or $7 thousand for it. If they tell you they'll give you $6 or $7,000 trade in value, it's better to just sell the car to some stranger for that price and give them a great deal than to let the stealership rip you off and make big profits off of you...............

Dam... Can get a 2006 IS250 with 50k+ for that price.
Good luck bro
But really, don't do trade in... My girl got a brand new A4 back in 09 and she traded her 03 or 04 IS which was valued at 15,900, they gave her only $7,000 credit for her trade in... crazy!!

Honestly man if it were me I would not get rid of the IS to get a mini. if your going to get rid of it and want something for gas mileage I say get a Honda or another Toyota product that gets better milage. As everyone else said do not trade it in, they will give you like half of what it's worth.
