Luckily those are easy to replace, they just bolt in. The upper ball joints require you to replace the whole upper control arm, but they are fairly easy to repalce too.

finished the job in 30 minutes with no problems!

The only thing I can complain about is that I changed both lower ball joints 5 months apart...

Just to clarify, it was my lower ball joint. But Thank you everyone who chimed in!
I just saw this thread, but that is exactly what I was going to post as I was reading down the list. I had the same issue on my old BMW.

It's ok that you changed them 5 months apart. The ball joints really don't have a life span on them or anything, they go when they wanna go. The life of a ball joint mainly depends on how well it was greased when you got it(if no grease fitting), if it has a grease fitting to grease it, and how well/often you keep it greased if it does have a grease fitting.

Thanks for the tip 03LexIS300.
I got worried because my friend goes by the rule of "if it comes in pairs, replace both."
