N/A to turbo swap
This is for a Supra but I'm getting no response on Supraforums.
Would anyone know about this? The '98 Supra n/a has the vvti motor.
I have a couple questions for people in the know.
I'm in the middle of a '98 n/a auto to tt swap.
I have a U.S. '95 tt auto ecu, '95 U.S. auto tt tranny, '95 2jzgte JDM engine.
First question is can I buy a U.S '97-'98 obd2 tt harness and run it on a '95 obd1 engine/tranny/ecu? Or do I need to buy a obd1 harness? There is a couple hundred dollar difference in the harness. I would think all the connectors are the same but I'm not sure.
Second question is my '98 is a vvti n/a engine, if I buy a JDM tt 2jzgte vvti engine can I use the harness from my '98 n/a to run the 2jzgte vvti engine/ecu?

well for starters the obd2 harness shouldnt work on your obd1 motor without some soldering and de-pinning. obd1 and obd2 are very different systems even though they may not appear that far apart. I would stick with the obd1 harness to make sure it will work properly. but with the obd harness you will also have to do some work to have it work properly on your factory obd2 car.
I would stick with an ob2 tt vvti motor.

1. obd2 harness will not work with a obd1 ecu. So the answer is no.
2. No...because one is jdm and the other is usdm and because one is a NA and the other is a TT.
I dont want to get into detail why not but if you use the search feature on the supra forums and look, there are multiple threads regarding this.
