I vote change the air filter, spark plugs, and wires. Hesitation under acceleration is usually due to the MAF not understanding how much air is (filter, MAF issue) coming in or something with fuel delivery (injectors or pump) or ignition of fuel (spark plugs and wires).
Another way in the future to check if you have a CEL without triggering it would be upon startup. When you start the car and all the lights come on, check to see if its there

look, my friend is a NISSAN certified tech, and he's ALSO part of a circuit/drag/autocross......... REAL CAR BUFF......... I asked him about spark plugs...... lemme tell you something, there is NO, and I mean NO, again, NO performance loss if you use the CHEAP NGK spark plugs from autozone, its been tested in the IS. Just go buy the cheapest NGK they have, trust me, you DON'T have to buy that Platinum crap. I've personally used NGKs CHEAPOS in my 560 RWHP 88 Nissan 300zx ALSO. That is until some low life thought it would be nice to RAM his brand new JETTA into the rear end of my TURBO Z. JERK!............... <<<< sorry, pent up anger still there
