Default IS300 unlocked then died-DEAD

Hi Folks,
My daughters 01 auto IS 300 popped the trunk, unlocked the doors, lit up the dash but when she tried to turn it over it went dead. No cranking. Cannot lock the doors or any electrical function. Totally dead. My question is this. Does the security system in the car disable it totally? I would assume even a weak battery would still set off the door locks.
I once had a bad battery in a LS 400 and once the battery was replaced I had to do a dance with the key and outside door lock to get the starter to turn over (security shutdown). If that may be the case how do you reset it?
Thanks for the help!

don't think it will just "disable" everything ,but i am not 100%

have you tried to jump the car or put in a different battery?

sounds like the battery might be completely dead. if that's the case your electrical components won't work includeing the alarm etc...

If the battery was dead then things wouldnt work up front.

I have had this problem SEVERAL times w/ my 93 Rx7. It usually occurs after working on it and not paying attention to things like making sure the battery cables are on securely

Check the battery cable connections and jiggle them around a little bit. Just b/c they are on there snugly doesn't mean its completing the circuit. Also - check the terminals or cable ends for corrosion. This could cause it as well.

How old is the battery in the car? And has it been replaced before?

Its probably the terminals. Built up corrosion between the post and terminal is a possibility. It happened to two of my toyotas.
