Default Rims...

What kind of budget do you have for your rims (just rims, don't included tires...but figure $1000 for 19" tires)

That will determine what you can get. Here's a few examples (these are pretty much full retail prices..you should be able to get a discount on most of this stuff...but you should figure worse case scenario...which retail is)

I think the DazzMatiz would look great on a IS...I think these are like $700/each.

Or you can get the RH Evolutions 1 piece version of the Matiz (which are priced well and are good quality...around $300/each) called M7000 but they only come in 18 (and 18's on a IS still looks tight!) You'll save quite a bit of money with the RH Evolutions (and 18" tires cost less).

If you want to go on the other end of the spending spectrum, into the forged rim category, you can take a look at the HRE 540 Series...but these are in the $1200/rim category.

And Kinesis Wheels...personally, I like the K28 which are in the $1100/rim category.

And finally (but not least!) Fikse. The Aro would look tight on any car. The Mach V, FM/5, and FM/10 would also look good. These will be in the $1000/rim category.

The good thing about HRE/Fikse/Kinesis is that they build the rims to order. So you can spec out things like finish, depth of lip (to a point), offset, etc. They're not just "cookie cutter" sizes and offsets so you'll never have to use things like spacers or get the hub shaved or settle for a shallow lip, etc. Plus their quality, fit, and finish is the best...and if you want shiny, you don't have to add a lot of heavy chrome (which will affect your acceleration)...you can have them with a high polished finish (that's clear coated for easy maintenance)...

You can also look at some wheels/rims from Japan. Companies like Advan, Volk Racing, 5Zigen, Racing Sparco, Hokuto, Racing Linea all make quality rims. Some of them get to be pretty expensive as well.

no budget for me on wheels. I'm willing to pay anything (that isn't too much of a rip) for wheels to add to the car's overall appearance and ride comfort.

Default ALRIGHT!

"no budget for me on wheels. I'm willing to pay anything (that isn't too much of a rip) for wheels..."

Now THAT'S my kinda answer!

Well first let's address the ride comfort. If you go any bigger than the stock 17s, you're ride "comfort" will go down. If you go with lowering the car (via height adjustable coil overs or just some springs/shocks), you're ride "comfort" will go down. Basically, you have to pick looks or ride comfort. It's nearly impossible to get both.

That said, I would look at getting FORGED wheels. They are simply the best. HRE, Fikse, Kinesis all make EXCELLENT wheels. I don't know what your taste is in rims, but all three of those companies have some GREAT looking wheels.

You could also get some phat rims from Weds, Rays, Manaray (the rim guys, not me ), SSR, Work, etc...all those companies produce top-notch wheels...

What style of rims are you looking for? Dish, 5 Spoke, Multi-Spoke, Mesh? Personally, I think on the IS, you can get away with both "luxury" style rims and "race" style rims...so you have a LOT of choice...

Just PLEASE don't get some nasty *** Lexani's, Arelli's (Assassyns? someone should assassinate the designer that came up with that rim...and any company that sells a rim called the "bling-bling", you KNOW not to buy from!), Giovanna's or some other ghetto *** looking garbage that most Civic owners wouldn't even put on their cars!

You guys need to remember there are a lot of compromises made when going to 19s. The most obvious of which is ride comfort.

People forget that your acceleration will also suffer (a lot I might add) because of the add'l rotational inertia of the larger diameter wheel.

Larger diameter wheels are also more prone to damage from road irregularities so you must be careful when driving in pothole-strewn areas. Lastly, tires for 19s are more expensive than the smaller 17s and 18s.

Just some things to consider.

Just an aesthetic question [asuming same size]:
Why replace perfectly great looking 5 star wheels with an aftermarket 5 star? Many of the wheels in manaray's post were 5 star design.

Just curious.

most don't buy same size wheels, usually Clublexus members buy 18, 19, or 20" wheel sizes, i think kagee is the only one to have bought aftermarket 16" wheels, but they looks sweet! I agree, the stock 17s either IS or GS look really nice! Not many rims out there that are better than that!

Lucky - If you like the design of the wheel, whether it's "another" 5 star or not shouldn't matter. You can set up 10 5 stars rims right next to each other and they'll all give your car a COMPLETELY different look.

I've also posted many "mesh" and a few "dish" style wheels also. The Dish styles are a little harder to pick by because most of them just look like Mercedes wheels and you don't want to put Mercedes-looking wheels on your Lexus (why downgrade your car?!? ).
