RWD...in New York state? You must not live anywhere near Buffalo, Rochester, or Syracuse; or if you do you got a snow beater?

Small correction, for those of you that refer to the LF-S, it is LF-C

And AWD is proberbly based on the same principle as the 400h and rumored GS, being hybrid to get to AWD

Many people in the luxury class buy different vehicles for different things. Also most people don't live in that 7% of the country. I live in Connecticut and if and when there's a storm, I'd leave the sports car in the garage.

HOWEVER, I do believe that AWD simply needs to be common on all sports cars in the future not because of snow, but because of future HP ratings, you won't be able to harness everything the engine's got. There's an article in Automobile magazine (which I thought gave the Lexus GX a not good enough review) entitled why you'll want AWD in your new sports car or thereabouts. It's a good read.

Yes...I read that article. I read most of the enthusiast auto mags. Some of them have published my comments.
The most common complaint about AWD (besides the weight , complexity, and drag) is that it generally doesn't allow sharp oversteer and tail-slide-out cornering.....but my line of thought is that one should not be doing that stuff on public roads anyway.

pfsacer,

Back to your earlier response a while ago. All I have to say is I doubt alot of what some websites say. Some websites truly have wrong info. over and over again. And autospies is one of the biggest offenders.

About the 300bhp base V6. I simply doubt it, but I guess we won't know until next year when the IS actually comes out.

Skinny, rumors are rumors and we won't know until the new GS comes out, which is March 2005.
Because I do not think they will deploy 2 different V6 engines (one for the IS and one for the GS)

There might be different tuning specs for the different models (like with Nissan/Infinity ranging from 265 to 285 from one engine)

Again if Lexus doesn't up the HP on both the V6 and V8 front they will loose the more power oriented customers, and if I look at the IS press conference, Lexus is saying that they will be more competitive with BMW, that IMO confirms that HP will go up, and not by 10 or 20 HP

I for one hope the rumors on the GS350GT etc. are true, again it would make sense.

BTW the rumor came from AutoExpress and not Autospies, they latter just repeated it

and from another point of view, if they don't have 300hp on the new IS, that might be a good idea coz' i might just keep my is3

Maybe you can diasble 2 of the 6, so you don't get in trouble and you can manage the "power" better

Cheers
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...my bad. You just can't compare a German new model and a Lexus new model. The LS430 was brand spankin new in 2001 and set a record in JDPowers for least amount of problems.

If you want to see what is expected to look alot like the new IS, go to www.wieck.com, click on the "PUBLIC" link, then on "SEE THE LATEST PICTURES", then type "LEXUS". Then bask in the glory!
