I am still waiting on my Enkei PF01 18x9.5 +45 wheels to get back from power coating. I decided a while ago to go with a squared setup 275/35R18. I had thought (until today) that I would likely just get Michelin PSS tires since they grip well, communicate well, and have excellent wear. I have looked into the Extreme Performance Summer tire category many times, but have never pulled the trigger on a set. After reading about Bridgestone Potenza RE-71Rs I think I might have to give them a try. I've heard many here say how much they love the RE-11A tires, and the RE-71Rs are supposed to be better according to the articles above. They are 2 lbs heavier per tire than the Michelin PSS in the size I want, but I'm not going to worry about that. BTW they are slightly less expensive than the RE-11A.
LOL I was looking at those a couple of weeks back. I wish they made them oem size. I think its going to be a great track tire. New tech, HUGE shoulder blocks, and bridgestones wear pretty damn good even when rated pretty low
^^^^ + 1. They come from a serious line of performance tires and the design looks pretty good. I wonder if they will expand the sizes available in the future
I remember reading somewhere Bridgestone does plan to add sizes this summer and next year. I'd guess ultimately ending up with the same sizes as the RE-11A since they are intended as the successor.
I have the RE-71R on my car. I love them. They're not as quiet and won't wear as long as the PSS, but they are a definite step up in grip, communication, and handling response. They're also a step above the RE-11 and RE-11A in those categories as well. The RE-11 was always the best-mannered extreme performance summer tire, but it didn't have the performance to put it at the top of the category. The RE-71R is slightly more hard-edged, but you get a more focused driver's tire because of it.

Any word on if Bridgestone is ever going to make this in 225/40R19?
Last time I had to replace tires on the F, I was told they were actually discontinuing the RE-11s, but Tire Rack still seems to have a limited number in stock.
Those are definitely great tire choice , only thing that kept me from purchasing just yet is they don't have the 275/30/19 out yet . So I'll wait till the end of this year or early next year as my pss should last one more summer.
However I also thing best bang for buck are still the re11 due to lasting most likely an extra summer or 2 as they have 2 tenths of extra tread and the compound most likely won't wear them as quick.
I was surprised at the lap time as well, thought the re71r would more performance out in the dry yet it was reversed. They seem to channel the water out better in the wet.
Either way my pick would be Re71r for optimum performance but I would also consider the Yokos ad08r
For best overall value and street duty and 1-3 track days a year I'd go with the Re11 as these will last a lot longer.
Would I buy Pss again ? potentially only when I compare them to the re11s as these are also great street tire/track tire that gets great mileage on them.
I just noticed that after a few lap session the semi worn out Pss fall off performance and squeak like a pig. Maybe I have to play with tire pressures.

Sizes suck on this tire and I heard they grip like CRAY but " wear like chalk ". No direct experience but have hear good stuff . Unfortunately like many extreme performance tires they have very limited sizing
I am about to put my 275/35R18 setup back on. I only have a few thousand miles on them to include 8x 20 minute track sessions. From what I can tell they do wear fairly quickly, but they stick like glue.
