2015 Lexus RC F destroys the 2014 IS F on track
#5
Should be another title called "2015 RC-F equals 2014 IS-F on the street" since this is where most of us will drive. Same 0-60 and same 1/4 mile time unless u ask a couple of the delusional guys on the RC-F forum that swear it hits 60 in 3.9 sec.

These threads are destined to appear here and on the RCF forums for years to come. One thing seems clear though... those of us with ISFs already that aren't hard-core track junkies will probably not experience much more performance by upgrading to the RCF. Sure, there are tons of reasons why one would want to trade "up"--we all bought the ISF knowing competitors were faster--but on a strict performance scale, it isn't worth dropping tens of thousands more to trade.

QFT. The whole RC-F subforum has deteriorated rapidly...it's the same 2 fanboys making inflammatory comments over and over again in every single thread. It's like a virus. I have given up and going back to this ISF forum where true enthusiasts still reside. I just feel like guys in here are much more objective and knowledgable about their rides. Am I right or am I right?

That said, this comparison doesn't tell us much.
"Not only are my skills not up to that kind of a test, the track was not configured identically during my two track days. The straights are slowed by chicanes to save the lives of the journalists - seriously - There have been crashes. Maybe my feelings of being faster in the RC F are wrong. Could be. In 1 year we will know."
Misleading titles are annoying, but I take from this that he actually liked driving the RC F better, which ultimately, is most important. That translates to daily driving and beyond. Actual ideal numbers on a track are great for magazines, but I've seen faster people in slower cars (and trucks) post better times than dedicated performance cars, so I'm neither here nor there with that. Driving a performance car is as much about feel and confidence, and that's something most people will relate to.
Good on Lexus with the RC F, I hope it continues to win points in this area. I'll keep my IS F, though. Hopefully we see a next gen.

I just read the PCOTY issue of road and track. The rcf was in it and didn't do that well mostly because of the electronic aids. The actually mentioned the isf stating the rcf wasn't like its predecessor the isf which u can actually have fun with. (Something to that effect anyway)

Really, the RCF should be better on the track. I hope that is the truth.
The article is an amateur review and that's my issue with it. NOT to say he's wrong, but the ISF seats are NEVER a down-point in any other professional reviews. everyone loves them that I've seen. Again, I hope they did get even better in the RC-F but the ISF does NOT have you sliding into the door (maybe he tested an IS350?). His comment on the gearing and always being in the rev band obviously meant he was in auto mode around the track. WHY? I'm not saying he's wrong, but there's VERY few times I've been on the track and not paddle-shifted it.
Again, I'm not going to debate that the ISF is better and I hope Lexus did come along and make the RC-F better, but there's just some comments in the article that strike me as odd.
