i will be hooking up a shift lamp into my cluster...the shift lamp needs to tap to:
1. positive
2. negative
3. tach signal

Does the ~2008/early cluster have a shift light built in? The ~2014/newer cluster tachometer has a pair of yellow LED bars, and one red LED bar (and then a beep) as you approach red line... or are you just wanting a more visible / more adjustable shift light? I have added the TRD (blue) "sequential" 6-LED shift light to my Supra (6-speed) on her A-pillar.

08 does have a light that comes on and makes a beep. I have just recieved a entire 08 electrical paper manual!

I have never noticed a light on the cluster telling me to shift..

no light on mine, nothing in the owners manual. my friends 06 is250 had one, it was an orange circle around the tach and you could set it to where ever you wanted. we both found that odd that the 08 isf didnt have one. please share with us no how to turn this shift light on.

I suppose once you break traction, and that trac light comes on, it might be time to select a different gear

BTW, here is a link to a Youtube video (from a 2011 IS F) that shows the Lexus factory built-in shift lights & beep. This is exactly what my 2014 dashboard looks like. I was pleasantly surprised that my IS F had this feature.

... and one more link... if you want to see the TRD Sequential Shift light (like the one I have installed in my Supra), it works like this (I think this guy has his installed "upside down" beneath his dash, but this is the TRD version that is still available online.
