Default Question on Paddle Shifters

Hey Guys,

Hoping someone might be able to answer my question on the paddle shifters.

Basically, can I still use my IS-F if I remove them? Only reason I ask is I want to send them off to my carbon guy for skinning in real carbon fibre.

Let me know.

Thanks.

I believe the paddles have the sensor integrated into them but they diconnect. I am sure you can drive without them, but you may get a CEL.

Here is my walkthrough with photos in case you need it.

Thanks for that.

You were a huge help for when I removed my OEM steering wheel, and fitted a flat bottom version a few weeks back.

I actually used a few of your photos to do a DIY thread over on the UK forum. Gave you a shout out as a thanks for the help!

As long as it won't stop me/the wife using the car, I'll whip them off and send them to my carbon guy for skinning!

Just the normal carbon fibre colour.

I've already started on my interior. The rear centre armrest was re-skinned in real carbon fibre a few weeks ago. You can see a picture of it on my thread (ISF from over the pond - or something like that! Lol).

Just waiting to get back my door switch covers back (re-done in real carbon as opposed to the silver OEM stuff!).

Then it's centre console, ashtray lid, cubby lid, and the paddle shifters.

It won't set a CEL. There's no wire check for the paddles or the up/down feature on the stick as there are only two wires. It's impossible to run a wire check on a normally open circuit.

Thanks.

Guessing I should be ok to use the car without them then?

I can't see why it should be an issue.

You can if you are happy parting with close to $500!

Pretty sure my carbon skinning guy will do them for less than half that.

Why would you ruin a beautiful set of real magnesium paddle shifters with a cheap carbon fiber look skin?

It's a personal choice dude. I've also used real carbon on my rear centre armrest, door switch covers, centre console, and shifter. The paddles will finish it off nicely in my opinion.

How is real carbon with clear coat cheap?! Hardly any carbon parts are 100% carbon fibre unless you spend mega bucks?! Most are coated on fibreglass or plastic.

As I said, it's a personal choice, and something I like that's a bit different.
