Default 2005 CTS-V with self tune: Your thoughts??

So since owning this car, the trash talking and people wanting to race etc has been never ending. I cant even take a roadtrip without someone wanting to try out the F. Recently I was part of a callout that I knew nothing about, so my question to you guys is ....what do you think of a stock 2005 CTS-V with a self tune? This guy said he would destroy my lil lexus and will give me the break and run a 1/4 mile or even 1/2 mile.......Im liking my chances but I dont want to underestimate the LS6.....I only have an Injen Intake and secondary cat delete....what do you think about the outcome?

A tune will not do much on a 2005 CTS-V - since they are not supercharged - assuming he is stock with just a tune, he probably has an additional 25-30hp? Those cars weigh in at ~3,800 lbs (slightly more than the F) - I think F wins the 1/2 not sure about the quarter, that will be a drivers race.

I owned a '05 CTS-V, so I suppose I should chime in.

They're definitely more torquey down low, but they wheel hop (and destroy the rear diff) badly off the line if you try to launch them hard. I doubt a tune would do much of anything, but headers + exhaust really wake the CTS-V up.

You've got 2 extra gears, but he's likely to have more power. Could be a driver's race. Personally, I'd race from the dig and get him to give you a car length, doubt he'll ever catch up.

Race him from a dig and watch his differential explode.

Put back the stock air intake before you race him as well.

its def going to be interesting....if he is truly stock I should be ok....the thing that worries me is if this dude isnt stock.......I ran one from a roll a few weeks ago from 40mph and didnt have an issue but he had 2 people in the car....but he had intake tune headers exhaust..it was closer from an 80mph roll.....but Im just not sure how I will do against this particular guy in the qtr.....

Just race him already. Why do you even have to start a thread about this?

The guy never locked in the race and has not repsonded......I started the thread because I wanted to have an idea how things would pan out and not go into this blind...not really familiar with all the diff possiblitys with that car so when money is on the line I want to have an idea of what to expect...or if anyone had similar experiences...
