Question Swich oil or not to switch oil

Yes that is the question of the day. I have been using Royal Purple products for about 10-11 yrs now on and been using it on the F since I have owned it. I use RP 5w30 and I match it with a K&N oil filter. I have been getting my oil changing at the same shop for the last 10-11 yrs with no problems and the price for a full synthetic oil change for the F is about $120. I recently bought my wife a MB ML550 and the shop I take my car to does not touch German cars so no RP for my wife's truck. That being said a new shop that I have found near my office will do a Premium oil change package for $250 that includes 5 full synthetic oil changes using Mobile 1 doesn't matter how much oil the car uses with a pronto oil filter, all fluids top off, and tires balanced and rotated. I know this may sound like a pointless post but my true question is what would you guys do? Pay the $120 and keep using RP on my car and take to 1 shop and take my wife's truck pay another $120 to a different shop, or just switch to Mobile 1 on the F and pay the $250 up front and just take both vehicles to the same shop and save some money?

No one can tell/advise you what to do, how to spend your money, and what oil to use from forums. The decision is yours.

Having that said, the ISF can run conventional oil and does not require synthetic if you want to keep oil change costs low.

IMHO....$250 for 5 oil changes is very cheap for the ISF. The oil itself (Mobil 1) per oil change is already $50 (cheapest price at Walmart)...i dont see how they can make money at that price (plus filling all fluid). make sure they are using Mobil 1....and yes it runs on conventional oil and that's what i'm using....

$50 isnt even enough for just oil at wallyworld since synthetic there is about $25/5qt+tax for M1, pennzoil ultra platinum, etc. Are you sure the shop will do all 10qt for that price? I thought most oil changes are based on 5qt of oil. Or you could work something out where you bring the oil and filter and they do the labor.

Yes its a shop here in the Houston area that Im talking about. Yes it is for a 10 qt oil service cause my wife's MB ML uses 10qt as well and the filter that my wife's ML uses is a non standard filter that they have to get ordered the day of the change to get it done. They have the synthetic package and also the conventional oil package. I know the F runs off conventional oil as well I use synthetic on all my cars http://www.driversautorepair.com/

honestly a reason to run synthetic alone is to get a 10k oil change interval, reduces the amount of time and labor you need to devote to oil changes. Better lubrication in a bigger temperature range. $250 for 5 synthetic oil changes sounds like a deal since its $50 alone for the oil

Right that is why I use synthetic oil. If someone has a Drivers Auto around them and they use this package that im going to use I guess it wouldn't be a useless post. I'm going to get the oil changed in the morning and I will get more info on the oil and pricing

That statement is highly debatable. I'm not 100% convinced it is true, but I am convinced enough that I run Mobil 1 in the F and Red Line in the Supra. And me three to the Mobil 1 at Wally World for $26 a 5 quart jug. Sure if you're buying in 55 gallon drums it's cheaper, but a 10 quart change is hurting your margins pretty bad.
