Rolling Road Results - Need advice! :-(
Hi Guys,
A few of us went on a dyno this morning at a place in the UK called AMD.
Whilst I had the best results overall, the numbers are still way below what we were expecting!
We followed the guidance offered on here (sport mode, aircon off, manual mode, 6th gear), but the numbers were down for all three cars.
Cars we used were:
1. Stock
2. Takeda cold air intake and Apexi throttle controller (set to red mode)
3. Takeda cold intake and H&S true quad exhaust with mid-silencer delete
Mine is the second car.
Here's my print-out:
They told us to ignore the axis, data, and max rev's. Apparently it was taken to the redline in 6th for both runs on all three cars.
They also claimed it's down to being an auto and even on manual mode, it doesn't work right on the dyno. They also suggested our cars were maybe just bad on dyno's!
Could use you're expertise and experience guys.
Hoping to get the same data for the third car shortly as well.
Cheers.
Peter

I went to AmD's site and could find no mention of the brand and type of dynamometer they are using. And, as mentioned above different brands of dynos produce different results.
Also, as far as the added equipment goes.
1. Takeda intake probably will not increase HP on the Dyno. BTW, I have a Takeda Intake and luv it.
2. The Apexi will change your throttle response, but will have no impact on power.
3. The HKS exhaust will have a positive effect and will add power.

Compared to other rollers people have experiance with. The results we got don't seem correct as a mazdaspeed made 265bhp with no mods. So the figures produced can't be at the wheels. Same with clip 172, civic type r etc. all made spot on fly wheel figures which would mean our f's are 40hp + down on the stated 417 from lexus.
We are just trying to find a dyno that accurately produces figures for autos.

whats the issue here?
Lol you made 363hp with an intake thats been allegedly proven not to gain anything?
those numbers are to the wheels, and show less than a 13% drive train loss.
I did under 330hp on a dyno dynamics (apparently "real world numbers...bull****) and I have a significantly more modified car.

Issue is they said its at the wheels but I don't think it was as other cars like mazdaspeed 3 made 265 which is spot on for fly wheel power. Graphs also only show revs up to 4.5k.
I'll be taking mine to company who show, fly wheel, at the wheels and AFR.

One thing to consider is we run much better quality fuel over here in the UK.
Our cars are using 99 RON super unleaded. I think most of you guys are on 95 RON?
It will make a bit of a difference as I know a lot of modified muscle cars from the US are re-mapped here before sale. The power figures can increase as much as 30% from what they were your side of the pond.
Having read and looked at a number of graphs/results, looks like my numbers are on the generous side.
We will hopefully get another run organised on a different dyno that gives more information shortly.

My concern is whether it is fly wheel or at the wheels. Don't see how it could be at the wheels given others figures.
