I'l admit I like the 12 and up wheels, I like the alcantara seats (from a looks standpoint anyways), and I do like the newer headlights with the LED strips because they have the darker housing and the LED looks pretty awesome coming up behind you. If I could have afforded it I probably would have bought a newer one but I don't think I would trade up just to get those upgrades. Perhaps when the new RC-F or IS-F comes out I'll upgrade a year or two later but I think it's just silly to upgrade when the cars are basically the same.

And if they do make a new ISF and it looks anything like the new IS I think I'll probably pass.

08 is OG

Hi all,

I had an '09 SPW/Black int. that I purchased CPO in 2010. It was a great sports sedan and the ride never seemed unduly harsh to me. However, at speed over undulating roads it would tend to become unsettled especially with twisties thrown in. When the '11 came out with the revised suspension and I read the results of the 2011 VIR Lightning Lap I thought Lexus really made some great improvements. I waited until 2012 and one test drive sealed the deal. Plus my wife was all for getting a new one as the '09 may have been repainted as I saw evidence of overspray on the rubber in the front of the door/fender area and I had shown this to her. The '12 is the same color, SPW/Black except with the Alcantara seats. I think that one has to experience the early IS F and then the '11 and up to really appreciate the upgrades to the suspension and electronics. I also noted that the '12 I purchased sounds throatier than the '09 and I tested this by having my wife start the '09 and the sales person start the '12 side by side with me behind them. Of course the power was off as it was new but once broken in the torque feels stronger than the '09. Maybe just some build variation between the two (or the LSD?), I really don't know. All in all we are very happy with the trade up and plan on keeping the '12 for many years.

P.S.... As I have alway stated, all years of the IS F are special as this car is the first hotrod from Lexus and a "skunkworks" project by car enthusiasts for car enthusiasts.
