Here is the damper and how to take it out or install from Sewell.

i've found ISx50 and IS-F steering ECU's on various websites for ~$500.
shouldn't be a hard DIY, since it's a PnP affair, and the steering ECU can be easily accessed as it sits right below the battery tray - in the ISx50.
(it should be in the same location in the IS-F as it is in the ISx50...)

I'm almost certain that a weight in the center of the wheel isn't increasing the resistance of turning the steering wheel. The weight of the steering wheel doesn't bother me, I just wanted input from other ISF drivers to confirm that my power steering is or is not operating properly.

Probably Fine

However, if you are worried, a quick trip to the dealer will probably take 10 minutes for the service tech or writer to sit in the car and turn the wheel and tell you it is normal or not.

I had a 2006 IS350. The wife loved it. I bought a 2008 IS-F. The wife hates the steering and has complained about how heavy it is from day one. I intend to swap the steering ECU for a later model as everyone who has driven both the '08/'09 and the '11 or later Fs says the steering is much improved. One member on this forum said the steering on the '11 model felt like his Porsche and that Lexus had finally "got it right" with the newer ECU.

nothing wrong with steering
The heavier steering is natural in the ISF, especially with the sport mode enabled.
I came from an IS350 and it was lighter, less stiff and easier to handle. The stiffer response is typical of a heavier, high performance vehicle to allow for tighter handling and road response.
I am not sure removing the dampener will help much.

I am definetly interested to hear the feedback from you.

New to this forum, but not necessarily new to Lexus. Anyway, just got an '08 ISF and noticed that the steering requires much more effort to turn than my old '07 IS350 and my wife's '13 RX350. Just curious if any other ISF drivers out there notice the same thing or if there is something wrong with my power steering. My previous cars, '08 STi and '06 EVO, also did not require this much effort to turn the steering wheel.
IS and ISF are two drastically different machines. With the exception of some of the cosmetics, there is little in common with the IS. The ISF is to an IS what the M3 is to a 3.
Enjoy the differences--there are many.
