I ended up replacing my 3 yr old stock battery which no longer was holding a charge with a optima redtop. Question I have is that when the car is on 'ignition on mode' ( right before actually starting the car) the battery indicator on the cluster shows the charge as being1 bar below the default halfway mark. Once the car actually starts it jumps back to the haf way mark. I don't recall this being the case with the stock battery. Is this normal and expected on a brand new battery?

Bumping a super old thread. I bought an optima red top #N9925RED and trying to install it now. I have it in right now with the spacer and it is still about 2 inches too low for the battery bar....... suggestions?

I just installed an Optima RedTop 25 and used 1 of the 2 provided spacers and it matched the stock battery height perfectly. Are you using the shorter of the two spacers?
Also: it's hard to tell from your picture, but is your battery bar seated properly?

He's correct, use the larger spacer that is provided and everything will line up perfectly. I had the same issue before I realized I needed to use the spacer.

Well after a little over 3.5 years of ownership, my Optima Redtop will not hold a charge if the car sits for over 2 days. I think its pretty crappy for a battery to die within 3.5 years and cost a butt load.
Was gonna go with the Kirkland but just found out that Costco doesn't sell batteries no more? and replaced it with Interstate.
Humm, which brand to go with now.

If it were me, and it was, I would go with this one:

I'm a big believer in AGM batteries and now have one in both my F and my truck.

Although I know the oem battery is not the best , it is under warranty at the dealership. It comes down to convenience for me. If I had an option I'd go with some of the options mentioned here but it usually comes down to convenience for me. They test my battery at the dealership all the time and they replace as soon as it tests on the lower side.

Same one I've got. AGM is the way to go. And it looks great when the hood is up.

Same Costco battery it always was just rebadged and same warranty. I have them in 2 of my 3 cars. Will soon be all 3 once my wife's suv battery dies.
