Track tire and wheel combo, thoughts?
I'm looking at purchasing a set of wheels and tires specifically for track days as I track my car at Nelson Ledges about 10-15 days a year. Below is the setup I've decided on, feel free to comment. The only thing I'm a bit worried about is having 285's in the back and having irregular tire wear because of the larger size.
I'm looking at Enkei PF01 (in black) 18x9.5 +45 285/30/18's in the rear and 255/30/18's in the front.
Wheels = $1420
Tires = $2050
Total mounted, balanced and shipped = $3600
Thoughts?

You can actually fit 285/30 on all four corners if you're at stock height. Check this thread out.

as T-Rex pointed out SCCAForums is using those same wheels you're planning on using in the rear AT ALL FOUR CORNERS ...... without fender mods. he's at stock height BTW.... many have said that a "square" setup will help with the understeer of the F. I'm hoping to copy his setup in the next year or two. Good Luck!
p.s. what tires are you planning on choosing?

What are you trying to achieve with your setup? My friends and I road race, rally cross and drift so if theres any advice you could use just let me know I'd be more than happy to give you my two cents.

Any staggered set up will have more understeer than a square set up. My plan for the track is 285/30/18 on all four corners just like SCCAForums. It's pretty hard to argue with his results.

Sorry forgot to say which tires, Toyo R888's. So you're thinking I should go 285's at all four corners? I would like to mitigate a bit of the understeer that happens on the track.

Yes. The IS-F is a heavy car and it needs all the rubber acreage you can stuff under it. Supras work best with 315's on all four corners - they're 250 lbs lighter than the F. It's also a front heavy car, so more rubber under the front will help mitigate the understeer they've designed into it at the factory.
