I plasti dipped the emblems on my IS 350... they held up, and came off easy when I needed to go back to stock. Definitely a cheap alternative.

For those that painted, did you take the emblems off to paint?

Nope, just tape off an area leaving about an inch border between the emblem and the tape. Spray on 4 coats making sure to cover the whole area that's not masked off. Let it dry and you'll be able to peel up very easily if it's been covered over well when you pull up the tape.

I hope he's referring to Plastidip and not paint!

It is unfortunate they cost so much but the results are very nice. There is not an F color out there that will not look better with the dark emblems.

I used the kit that Duplicolor makes, I think it's called Shadow Black Chrome. It comes with the black chrome paint as well as a can of clearcoat. Both are applied without sanding the surface.

I did mine about 8 months ago and the emblems are holding up perfectly to weekly car washes etc.

It's rubberized paint. Spray it on it sticks, but u peel up a corner and it'll come off like a sticker.

Just a heads up. Plastidip now comes in gloss. I don't know wether its the same appearance or even similar to BP emblems as no ones done it yet so maybe you should guinea pig it man...lol but I understand if you decline to.

As for "Dont spray the emblems" I call Bull****. I sprayed everything except the chrome window surround (Even the chrome L on the steering wheel) and I didn't even take anything off the car. I just used painters tape and newspaper to mask of the area I didn't want to black out. The front grill is a little tricky but some creative taping and tearing takes care of any problems. It's been several months since I did my plastidip-ing and it looks like the day I did it.

The cool thing about plastidip is you can use a variety of colors so you can swap your emblem colors to match your wheels if you wanted.

Even on Matador Red??? I have yet to see a Matador Red ISF with the Black Pearl Emblems???

Maybe it is time I do this...my only dilemma is the front grill surround...Do I go Black Pearl with it as well? I saw that Sewell is now offering these painted grill surrounds...wondering how that would look either Matador red or Obsidian? Anyone try this yet?
