DIY with photo!!! Navigation Hack (Enable DVD,Phonebook,MP3 folder when moving)
Its basically the same for the 2008 ISF....

I was bored, so decided to try it out.....hehehe
Used my favorite starbucks card to pop open the plastic piece.
then I used a flat head screwdriver to loosen the clips holding down the center counsel
There's 2 10mm bolts to loosen to take out the ash tray

there's 4 plastic clips that you have to pry downwards inside the vents to be able to open it.
there's 4-10mm screws that are holding the unit down, take them off, 2 on the top (behind the air vents), and 2 on the bottom (behind the ash tray). After taking those bolts off, the whole unit is loosen.
close up view of the bottom screws
the whole unit is about 20-30 lbs so make sure you have a lot of padding, so that you wont scratch anything
locate the pink wire and the silver and white wire behind the unit.

yes i cut the 2 wires and connected them together.....pink one with the white and silver one.
Note: my unit is a non ML unit, if you have an ML unit and want to enable the DVD playback during driving, just follow the other thread, this here is to show you guys that the 2008 ISF nav/unit is basically the same as the 06-08 ISx50

props to being the first IS-F owner on here to try it

Great thread & pics.. Surprised you didn't blue tap around the work area...
Also, did you install a Nav overide switch?? To activate and/or de-activate??
^^ Yes.. We just did one this past Friday in an IS-F.. the DVD override works great, while the Nav overide only gives a 30 second widow, instead of the 5 mins.. It has to due with the Lexus Hardware if you ask me..
Not really a big deal if you have quick fingers.. or if needed you press the switch again to get another 30 seconds if needed.

I didn't want to install any external switches, so I basically just did this hack just because i was getting tired of not being able to see my mp3 files on the go. plus i was bored.

Does anybody know if I put in a 2006 NAV disk from an IS350 into my IS-F if I'd be able to use the menu, volume, up down up down hack?
I really miss that in my IS-F.
If anybody has any concrete info, I'll see if I can get my dealer to get me an old DVD.
I quess the question is... Does the system boot up from the DVD and whether or not the feature I'm looking for is burned into a chip or something..

Problem with NAV Override on 08 ISF.anyone know whats different or what may be wrong?
I did the DVD and Nav Override and the DVD works great while the in motion icons still gray out completely upon reaching a certain speed as designed. I am almost positive I spliced the right wires (pink and white with silver) together and grounded the red wire for the dvd part. Any ideas anyone? this is bothering me thanks.

Two questions (must be stupid but ..)
1) did you create ANY scratches through the WHOLE process?
- Due to previous experience on my is300, I apparantly had many scratches
and the vents were completely loose and whatnot
2) (a dumb questions) but im assume your warranty is voided? =[

Just a question, but is it possible to open up those white connectors that plug into the unit? This could potentially allow us to do the hack without actually cutting anything right? Does there need to be wires in the back of the navi unit to serve as placeholders or something?
Could this potentially allow us to perform the hack without actually cutting anything? This way we could potentially put it back together if we needed to and possibly avoid leaving evidence that we would be voiding the warranty.
Would that be possible?

in EURO spec, E11 version Naw dvd's (no hard-drives in EURO spec lexus'es ;( ) u no longer need to stop the car to enter destination. Just got E11 naw dvd and finded it out. E10 version still had stop-and-enter version...
It means Lexus car hear us and at least they made possible for Europe naw to control it while driving...
