There are 4 plastic covers on each foot on the seat. Pry those off to reveal the bolts for the seat. There are also three wire harnesses that have to be disconnected. I do d it easier to slide the seat all the way forward to get to the rear bolts then all the way back to get to the front. Tilt it back to get to the connectors. Then you should be able to maneuver it out.

Losen all 4 bolts. Tilt the seat backward and unclip the 3 harnesses. Not hard.

It's pretty straight forward, but the vent that sucks out of the carpet is only about 6-10 inches. It pulls out but air can still get out from the hole in the carpet. You may want to find something to block off the duct.

That is what I will try. Either block off or deflect the air away from the unit.

If you want to get to where thd ducts connect. Pull off the Lexus door trim. Just pull up on those, they snap in and out of place. Pull lower panel under the seat belt on the B pillar, just pull towards the interior of the car. And for extra room, pull the rear Lexus door trim. You will see a wire loom running down the side of the car with white clips looping over them. Unclip those and lift the carpet from the bottom of the clip. At the front of the carpet under the glove box, there is one clip holding the carpet side wall up to the side of the kick panel area. Pull that out and you should be able to lift the carpet up and see the duct. It looks a little intimidating but the trim just snaps in and out. Removing and installing car Interiors are so easy now a days.

Edit
You will also need to unbolt the bottom of the seatbelt. I believe the bolt is the same size for the seat. There should be a gray wire connection on the wide loom that is connected to the belt. Unclip and route through the carpet.

As a CERTIFIED DIY backyard mechanic (whatever that means) I like to do things by the book. Don't want any surprises for my passenger.

Torque spec on the seats are probably not necessary. Just make sure they're tight as stated above.

Thanks guys. I got the VAIS installed and I tighten the **** out of the bolts. Mission successful. Another DIY in the books. Now my 5 year old can watch paw patrol while I hit some twisties....
