Default Door Puddle Lights Issue

Hi Folks,

I have a small issue in that the drivers door card light is dimly lit, whereas the passenger door card light is brightly lit.

I probed the back of the connectors with the lights disconnected and both show a healthy 12-13v reading, when i connect the light up and probe the back of the connectors the drivers side drops to 5-6v and the light is very dim, where as the passenger side stays about the same and the light is bright.

Does this sound like a ground issue with the drivers side light?

any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like a ground to me. I had a recent issue with my tailights on my is300 shorting out and not I have an issue with the license plate light being dim lit. Then when trunk is open it cuts off. We fixed the break lights a few months ago and harness had wire slightly broken in it which was causing a short. I would assume loose wire or bad ground.

Not sure where to look to fix that. Sure one of these guys could help.

Thanks, I ran a new ground and it lit up perfect, so I'm wondering if it's the door switch or the wire from it to the back of the plug?

I'll do more digging but if anyone knows or has a wiring diagram that would be handy.

Ta

Glad you got a solution John.

My guess is the wire to the back of the plug is the culprit, but at least you got it up and running.

Cheers for now.

Cheers Peter I'll need to try seeing if it's that cable and exactly where it runs behind the scenes.
