Can anyone tell me what this is, and do I need it?
Found this when cleaning out the garage. It was in my afe box from back when I had the dealer remove the K&N intake and install the stock airbox. If I had to guess, it would be the vacuum sensor used to open the fender-well vent on the stock airbox. Anyone know for sure what this is? Do I need it / want it installed?

Some sort of a solenoid, I want to say the one that opens up the secondary intake, but not sure.
You can have the dealer bring up a diagram of parts of the intake, it should be listed.

I will have to check tomorrow. I assumed that the dealer, who returned it to stock, would have installed this if it was present. Why might they leave it off? If I remember correctly, not having this installed will leave open the fender-well vent by default. Is this the complete mod? What are the consequences of it being installed or uninstalled? Anyone care to comment on personal preference?

If there is no vacuum the door remains open all the time.

It is installed as depicted in the photo above, which now begs the question of "Why do I have another one that was returned to me in the box that looks better than the one installed?" It looks like I will have to go back to the dealer and make some inquires. Thanks for the help everyone.
