Default DIY: Lexus ISF Front Brake Pads/Rotors

Hey CL,

Wanted to go ahead and make a DIY thread with a quick overview of what you need to tackle this job. This is mainly for those who wants to replace their brake pads, rotors, refinish calipers, cleaning, or whatever you desire. Video of complete DIY provided at the bottom. Lets get started!

Tools needed:
-10mm socket
-13mm socket
-17mm socket
-Pliers
-Piston depressor ( optional )
-Variety of pry bars
-3/8 cordless impact ( optional )
-10mm and 12mm bolt ( for release rotor off hub, used with cordless )

Time till completion:
-Roughly 30-45 minutes for both sides.

Quick steps:
-Get car on lift or on jack stands. Safety is key here everyone lol.
-Remove front wheels.
-Start by removing 13mm bolt on the middle enlarged pin.
-Leave 13mm bolt on the pin and hammer the pin outwards to break it loose. Set aside.
-Use a metal hammer and carefully hammer out upper and lower pins.
-Press metal spring/plate in to ease the tension on the pin as you remove it. Set aside.
-Use 2 pry bars and spread the old pads away from the rotor. ( this depresses the piston into the caliper )
-Wedging the pry bars against each other is also helpful with leverage. ( you can use piston depressor as well )
-Once pistons are in the caliper, remove the pads ( should be loose enough to wiggle it out )
-Remove 2 17mm bolts that hold the caliper to the hub. Set aside.
-Place caliper aside using something to prop it up. Don't let it pull on the brake line.
-Hammer the rotor off the hub. If it doesn't come loose, use a 10mm or 12mm bolt and tighten it onto the rotor. This will release the rotor off the hub.

Reinstall everything in opposite order. But, YOU MUST, I MEAN MUST PUMP YOUR BRAKES AFTER INSTALLING NEW PADS AND/OR ROTORS. This will engage the pistons back onto the pads thatll contact the rotor so you won't crash your car once you start driving off from completing your job.

I do not take any responsibilities for any damages as this is just a quick guide for those who are visual learners or want to see it first hand to build confidence in taking this job yourself. Thank you for your time and subscribe to my YouTube channel: KANTSTANDLAM GARAGE for more DIYs.

This is one of the few forums I've been on that they don't sticky useful categories like DIY. Nice job on the videos and taking the time to actually record/document it.

I know they don't want to clutter the forum. But there should be one DIY thread stickied, and have all the DIY links on it.
