OEM Radiator done at 106k miles - anybody else ?
I have a 2008 F that just broke 106k miles. Awoke to a small amount of coolant on the floor and more on the under tray right around where the lower hose connects. Brought it in to my usual shop and found that the radiator had essentially cracked. This was the original radiator (to my knowledge, bought this CPO in 2010 at just under 30k miles) Hoses were fine, thermostat was still working, but opted to replace all. A new oem radiator comes with a new coolant reservoir tank so that ended up being replaced too.
Just wanted to put this here to report in case anyone else has this happen ... seems early to me though ..

Newer radiators have the end parts and outlets where the hoses attach to made of plastic, which can get brittle and crack with age, like yours did. Its cheaper to make them this way but they don't last as long. I know BMW's are notorious for cracking plastic radiators and cracking plastic water pumps.

Have you had the radiator fan bolt recall done? There are a couple members on here who have had their radiators replaced during the recall (or soon after) due to cracking also. Can't recall their mileage though.
