You're not alone! That happens to my '08 all the time. Especially if I drive it a lot, then let it sit for like 30 mins, then drive again. I also thought it was the battery but I replaced it and at first the car started up instantaneously but now it is back to doing that from time to time. I don't think it should be an issue but it is odd. I guess if it doesn't harm the car in any way then it's ok.

Compared to mine, yours sounds like its turning over about half as fast as mine. May be the starter is getting tired? This is also exactly what happened with a civic I had before the started died a few months later.

Good to see others are experieincing this

This happens to me a few times when I come to leave work.

Now I'm thinking Joe might have a point here because when I arrive at work its usually after dirivng the car very aggressivly WOT at high speed. Then I park up and leave it for like 9hrs. When I come back to switch it on going back home it usually does this from time to time.

I figured replacing spark plugs would help but I still have like 7k km to go before my 60k service.

Maybe reving the car slightly before switching it off will help. I'm going to try this.

Could be the starter but I've only got 25k miles so don't think it's that. My mechanic said his LS used to do the same thing.

Did you actually take the battery to advanced auto or something. It may be putting out 12 volts but the cranking amps could be low. This is caused from hot days and harsh winters. Thats usually when batteries go bad. I see your in florida. Many hot days will effect cranking amps and thats what might be causing it.

Yes I actually took my car to Advanced Auto and the guy came out and tested my battery and he said it was perfectly fine. How would you know if the cranking amps are low?

Mine does this from time to time. Changed my battery and spark plugs last year. Got worried at first, hoping it's not a starter since I know how expensive it is. Cleaned the air filter, unplugged battery to reset, tried injector cleaner, cleaned the throttle, still the same. Haven't experienced it recently however. Not sure if this is weather related. Mine is at 115k.
