2012 IS-F Mirror Tap for Radar Detector
Hey guys. I've searched and searched and can't seem to find wiring that is the same as my IS-F to tap the mirror for power to a radar detector. Can anyone help? I think I can tap into the black/white wires on the left (black being +, white being -), but want to be sure. Here are pics of the wiring. There is an orange wire in the back as well. Tried to show that in the second pic. Sorry for the blurry pics. Thanks for the help.

Not sure if this helps but this link is pretty thorough. This diy doesn't have an orange wire but if you're just confirming +/- on the other colours I would just use a volt meter.

Thanks guys, I have confirmed for this it's black positive/white ground. It's all set up. I'll post some pics. I did the mirror mount as well as the mirror tap with my Escort.

Did mounting it on your mirror **** up your mirror?? Mine rattles like crazy with my V1 on there. If the sunroof is open it rattles as if I have 2 15's in the trunk. Speed bumps are enough to point it at my lap.
Not sure if it's a broken mirror mount or the weight of the detector.

Not a big fan of the mirror mounts, mount it to the windshield or to the roof of the car (at least with the V1, since you can get a concealed display)
Could have went with the Escort direct wire and into the fuse box, much cleaner than tapping/splicing factory wiring. (My personal opinion)

On the wiring...there's no splicing at all. With the tap, I just put the ends right into the sockets. Easiest "electrical" install I've ever done. I was wondering as I went through the threads why so many folks were splicing wires to do this, but the connectors are different than mine, so maybe that has something to do with it.

No, it's pretty clean. I tightened it down pretty good, but not too hard. I've only driven with it once, it didn't rattle at all. Let me put some miles on it and I'll do a follow up...
I've always had the window mounts (which are illegal in California, so I went to a dash mat when I lived there). The window ones, with age, always seem to lose their suction. The mount looks very factory when just looking at it eye level.

Not to thread jack but in regards to the rattle, there's a service bulletin for that. What year is your F? My '08 350 had insane rattle with moon roof open and I had it replaced with a newer model rear view by dealer.

Do you by chance have the service bulletin, or could you look it up? I'll search too, but if you still have it that would be immensely helpful.
It rattles CONSTANTLY with or without the detector on there. Sunroof makes it worse.
Edit - pretty sure u just found the TSB. When did you have yours replaced? Was it free? I'm not going to pay $1k for a mirror
