My Black Box G1W was horrible. Every other file would be corrupt so it would not play back. Reformatted the card and reset the device multiple times and still the same issue. I ended up throwing it away.

I'm thinking of getting this one next:

If you're thinking of a car dash cam that's always connected in your car then I'd go with the Auto Capsule AW2: http://www.cowonglobal.com/

I've had this on my car for nearly a year now and it's worked perfectly.

I do believe it is the only car dash cam that has full HD front and Rear (Most only have front HD)

I'll try and update my build to take some pics of them in the car.

The AW2 looks promising. How long can you go before the files start to get overwritten?

I run an Itronics ITB-100HD in the front, and a Mobius in the rear. Both are hardwired. No complaints about the Itronics - I've had it for around 3 years with no issues in cold and hot days alike. Great high/mid-range camera. The Mobius, on the other hand, is picky when it comes to memory cards. My C lens camera also loses focus on hot days. It does its job as a concealed rear camera though.

I have the G1W and it's been working great for 2+ years even after sitting in 100F+ weather. The camera did turn brown from sun exposure and the front screen plate fell off.

I use the Blackvue DR600GW. So far it has worked great for me, especially in the hot Atlanta weather we have. Here is a preview of something I caught while traveling down 75. The camera fits perfectly because I just hide it behind the rear view mirror and you can't even see it in the drivers seat.

Mobius Action Camera Wide Angle edition and a Mobius ActionCam Dash Camera Kit also has my recommendation. I have one on each of our 3 cars and they work great! They are configurable to turn on automatically when power is applied (turning car on) and turn off automatically as well. Once installed I never have to touch them as they just do there thing and that's what I wanted. I ran the wire up along the windshield and down the A pillar and under the glove box and have it plugged into center console outlet.

Video from my old gen 2 prius with the Mobius. The panting sound is NOT me! Dog sitting passenger. LOL

I also used to use Mobius cams for my racing quad but have since switched to GoPro as they have amazing video quality and stabilization.

Does any of the suggested cams have a motion detection option/parking mode?

The Mobius has a motion detection feature, but I've never played around with it.

Well that depends on the memory card, I believe there's a max of 64gb or something.

I'm using something like 48gb and it doesn't start overwriting files for like a day and a half, maybe 2 days cant remember honestly.
